X55 worth getting?

Q1….If you use Windows game controller it gives you the number of each button
Q2…As Drac says
Q3… Mines the same. I’m told you can assign it via site’s software but I’d rather assign mine in game so it’s dead atm…Gary
Just checked and button 15 is tgl 2… (back) on mine…
Understand now on Button 15. I have been to that Windows game controller before trying to troubleshoot the ghosting problem I initially had before I got the powered USB hub.

Thats it Gary- i’ve found it, well at least the pc has found it. In windows settings for my stick it shows button 15 as permanently highlighted, like its being pressed without being released. I’m guessing this is some kind of fault with the software as i am pressing all buttons i can see (including hats) on the stick and they all highlight and work. I have 14 buttons on the stick (not including POV hat) but for some reason in settings it has buttons 15,16 and 17, with 15 being pressed all the time, very strange. Whats more weird still is that button 15 in BMS setup is assigned to UHF, which i already have binded to another button on my throttle.
What do you guys think and how many buttons do your windows settings pick up?
-
And some more weirdness, in BMS it recognises the buttons on my throttle from like 34 upwards, but in windows settings they’re 1-32.

I am not sure if viewing the highlights on the Windows setting really is a concern. I initially thought something was wrong until I got a hold of the Saitek Representative. What specifically is the issue you are trying to resolve at this point…still trying to unassign a button?

Well since i connected my throttle to the hub, all i get now is this mysterious button 15 constantly activated (being pressed down) and as i said in game in setup it has it mapped to UHF and i find when im flying that the UHF icon in my DED is constantly highlighted, due to button 15 being apparently constantly pressed down. I guess this isnt a problem for single player but a major one for MP.

Understand. I would recommend binding that button to a non-functioning command or try changing the command for that button to something else to see what happens. I have my UHF/VHF programmed to K1.

I just thought of something. If you have your comms set to your toggle switch…then it would remain on. Toggle switches are like an on position until you switch it in the other direction and then that position (what ever is assign to that position) is now on. Best to use for Comms is any switch that has a release such as the K1 button.
-
Thats what i have mapped for UHF is K1 (up for UHF, down for VHF) this button 15 doesnt exist on neither my throttle or stick, yet apparently it does according to my pc and the setup in falcon, and the setup in falcon automatically right from the start had UHF binded to this ghostly button 15. But wait think i might know the solution….maybe its the stick thats ghosting which is still plugged into my tower. I’ll try plugging that to my hub too…i may be about to look very stupid, if not already :S
Nope tried it, stick is now plugged into the hub rather than back of tower same as throttle but this mysterious button 15 is still there, still being pressed.

The one button that seems constantly pressed on my set up is button 34…which is mode 1 selection…maybe that’s what your 15 is mapped to??
-
Well i was getting that mode button being pressed in setup but not now as i have the mode switch on M2 which isnt recognised. I actually have M1 assigned to ICP-nav….like i’ve been saying button 15 is nowhere on my throttle or stick, it doesnt exist. I’ve no idea where this button 15 is if it is somewhere on my throttle/stick, i checked the bottom (underneath) them both to see if theres a button (lol) but no.
-
I found mine was tgl2 by simple trial and error.
If you can identify buttons 14 and 16 etc then 15 should be quiet obvious??
-
Yea on my throttle button 15 (in windows settings) is TGL 2 down for me also, but what about your stick? how many buttons shows on windows settings for you for the stick?
-
Windows doesn’t show me any buttons for my stick.

This jpg helped me a lot. Easier to see than to explain.
My recommendation for the X55 is to use the BMS DX settings in the BMS .key file, bypassing the Saitek software, and using a powered USB hub. -
Thank you. The jpg is very useful….

@cns - Not sure why are looking at the Windows screen. I think you are making it harder than it needs to be. Do what derk and I are doing and you will be fine.

Gents think I’m in the same boat as cns…
Ive steered away from both Saitek and dx stuff because frankly I don’t understand it… I’ve read various threads and they might as well be written in Aztec!!!..my bad I know but just where I am…

Get a profile that is already done in DX. Load it in BMS and program your HOTAS accordingly. If you want my DX profile, just PM me your email address. Like you, I was not about to start from scratch trying to learn DX.

Pm sent….Thank you.
