Lightning's MFDE and 4.33
-
OK, so after another 4 hours on the keyboard and mouse (when I should’ve been on the stick ), I still cant get this working.
I’ve tried 0.6.0.0 to 0.6.1.1 - all have the same issue - starts up in the task bar, but can’t right click for properties or start. 0.5.7.0 runs, but no mfds, and jittery gauges.
The mfde installation package came with visual c++ runtime libraries - notice that I couldnt install these either - Some error about vcredist_x86.exe having changed since it was initially published. Just wondering if everyone else were installing this (ie. The setup.exe in the install package, or just running the mfde MSI file)?
My last resort will be an OS re-install, but that would mean loosing all my fsx, clod and ROF installs too, so I’m holding off for now.
Questions:
- Did anyone else get the mfde working on Windows 7 Ultimate without SP1?
- if yes, are you using .net framework 4.5.1?
- Again if yes, did u install the visual c++ runtime library package that came the mfde install?
TIA
Edit to add: just figured that when mfde does eventually start up, mfds and gauges are working. The problem is still the long delay (5-7mins?) between clicking on mfde in the task bar, and the options appearing, or selecting a gauge and it actually starting.
So now I need to figure out why it is so slow. As mentioned earlier, boot time is much slower after updating to .net 4.5.1, so I suspect these two are related.
same issue than you!
my workaround has been to reinstall OS and now all works fine on Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1 +.net framework 4.5.1 & the visual c++ runtime library package (mfde install)
but I couldnt do on fullscreen! MFDE doesn’t initialize in Fullscreen and all instruments remain fix

Try run as admin.
-
Yeah! That works for me too! Reinstall the old MFD Extractor. Install the new Version 0.6.1.1 and run it in win7 compatible mode and run it as admin.
Thanks for the tipp!!!
-
After using BMS extractor for years (losing 25% of my available FPS in 4.32) I installed 0.6.1.1 the install was easy thanks to a few posts here. (no install/setup instructions)
So with all options on, max trees & grass, medium AA settings MFDs, RWR, DED, PFL, Fuel, Gear Indicate.
I jumped from 32 to 52+. A Big from Me.
PS, The MFD are performing badly, even the digital fuel flow isa slide show.

Hi all. I’ve noticed that someone of you have experienced the same problem that i had before now. Mfde works fine, except for the two MFDs, that works only few times. I’ve solved this problem by enabling into the BMS Config the option for exporting the instruments (i don’t remember the exact tip). Obviously i don’t enable any of the BMS built-in instruments. That allows BMS to run in window mode (except when you enter in simulation) and solved the problem. I hope this will help someone here.

Or turn off BMS exporting and have fullscreen mode ……by running MFDE as admin and get the MFD’s that way.
-
Do not run CDE from inside BMS to extract MFD’s it WILL half your frame rate.
Trust me I am a …… fill in the blank ;0)
But keep it clean or the MOD will be all over you like a rash !!!

Hello Icarus. I’ve made all you say but it doesn’t work for me. That is why i run BMS in window mode. Of course i run mfde as admin.

But how can we fix the performance of the MFDs and even the fuel flow readout, its like a slide show.

Try also disabling visual themes and desktop composition.
How many monitors do you have?
-
Hello.
Same problem here….all instruments works Ok except MFD´s., and same solution, turning on Cockpit displays in Setup.
Any solution?
Thx very much for the work.

falcon bms.cfg file in \Falcon BMS 4.33\User\Config:
g_bExportRTTTextures set to 1?
g_nRTTExportBatchSize set to 1? (or change ‘Export a new set of images to shared memory’ to ‘every 1 video frame’ in MFDE Options). -
Yes, and I have the same issue using Gigurra exporter:
MFD´s not working but activating display exporter in BMS runs Ok.
-
“…disabling visual themes and desktop composition.”
That´s it!
All working perfectly
Thank you people…:)
-
tried all various “fixes” and still cannot get MFDs to work. Isn’t there a few lines of text we needed to add to the BMS.cfg file to make MFDs work or is that just on older versions?
-
Doesn´t work for me either - here´s my setup and the link to my MFDE´s logfile:
- MFD_Extractor_v0_6_1_1__x86 installed at default location
- bms 4.33 installed at default location
- win 7 professional installed fully updated
- latest Visual C++ Redistributables (x64/x86 2010/2012/2013) installed
- 2 Samsung U70 USB monitors with latest Displaylink drivers for MFD extraction, configured and correctly identified by windows as display 2 and 3
- disabled aero themes
- running MFD_Extractor as admin, disabled visual themes, disabled desktop composition
- “g_bExportRTTTextures set to 1” and “g_nRTTExportBatchSize set to 1” in falcon bms.config
- enabled “exporting of 3D cockpit instruments to shared memory” at MFDE´s BMS advanced options
- “export a new set of images to shared memory, every 1 video frame” at MFDE´s BMS advanced options
- “use primary monitor´s color depth” at MFDE´s BMS advanced options
- reverted to older Nvidia drivers
- uninstalled my Displaylink drivers
No luck - MFDE´s start/ stop menu is greyed out as soon as I check an instrument for extraction….

Btw. it was working with an older version of MFDE and BMS 4.32

hi guys,
perhaps i have solution for everybody
1)twice boot of two operating system on same HHD
2)just install in other SSD /WIN7 PRO and BMS 4.33 for test and not with hypervisor but you must use a special support for that or connect or disconnect on bios or developp file bat :: DOS
for me with this you can use BMS 4.33 with older technology and apply your older configuration with that
and after charm for everybody
just i search of solution in this way
sf -
I´don´t get your idea - I assume you mean installing it under 4.32 and than copying the config files to 4.33?!? I doubt that will do the trick, or did you try it by yourself?
But anyway, maybe there will be a new version of MFDE in 3-4 weeks solving our problems…. -
Exceptions made for MFDE 0.6.1.1 in firewall and antivirus?
