Cockpit Canopy Reflection Pack
-
I think there is another factor involved: in real life you focus your eyes to the outside world when looking around, which has two effects: first the reflection on the canopy will be out of focus which makes it a less prominent object in your FOV and second your brain wil filter the reflection as good as possible because it’s an unimportant part of your view. Compare it with rain on the windscreen of your car: as long as it doesn’t really draw your attention, you don’t ‘see’ it. You can focus on the outside world without distraction by the rain drops.
On the computer screen, both the reflection and the outside world are in focus. There is no physical distance between the two. So filtering the reflection by your brain is less effective: focussing on the outside world makes no difference. That’s why the distractive effect of the reflection is bigger, compared to the real world situation.
Fully agree. This is exactly the point why I stopped with trying to ‘enhance’ the reflections of the interior onto the canopy glass and kept it with the original. In almost all cases the final effects are overdone. But, as in most areas, improvements are always welcome too And, I must admit: it really looks nice in the pics.

Three Files included. Low - Middle - High visibility.
High visiblility texture is default 8005.dds file. if is overdone, you must select other one and change file name 8005-Middle Visible.dds to 8005.dds etc. and copy past; Repalce in KoreaObj folder.Note: Set Your Canoppy Cue settings : one of “Reflection, lift line or Both” , in Setup graphics section

Added Another Reflection Pack with FunofBms432 Hud …
-
Would we need or want to swap out different reflections based upon weather, day/night time etc? Ideally we can just use one.

To revive this thread and combine it with my own version of this and FanOfBMS432’s mods, this is actually a very good mod, as it comes in3 saturation and strength versions.
There is one very similar version of the here used 8005.dds file around, slightly different reflection set and no colours. And anyone who wants a custom HUD and reflection set can simply open one of these files and edit the reflection part to his liking as well as the HUD colour part. The now default BMS HUD somehow managed to overpaint the HUD upper part with pink where in RL there is no colour but the HUD edge.

Tom, please email me the 8005 with your recommended HUD already added to the dds.
Cheers, dude.

P.S. All three versions of “Reflection Strength”, please…
EDIT –> Oh, and include your 3993 file if required. Thanks, dude.

Is the 3d HUD (At least more visible) glass included in this reflection mod- or do I need to get the HUD mod seperately?

Hello Redeye82!
You could download any canopy reflection texture, copy from that texture canopy reflection area and paste into my modified HUD dds. Than you should play with the Alpha Channel!Only Alpha channel makes “transparency”. For the Alpha Channel - Black color gives 100% transparency, White color - 0% transparency.
For the best transparency effect, use Gray color for the Alpha Channel!!!
Dark Gray more transparent effect, Light Gray less transparency.
This mean, if you put Light Gray Alpha Channel over reflection texture area (not over the whole dds texture) you will see “bright” reflection, because less transparent effect makes reflection more visible. Try different Gray colors and you will find what you need.
Best Regards,
Tavor
