-Ice's Falcon BMS Helios Profile Updated!

You must have larger hands then I do as it is difficult for me to read the S2 button when shifting so I just simply made shift S2 no action.
I think you mis-read my post. I, too, found it difficult to reach the pickle button that’s why I added the trim reset on the throttle. I just didn’t delete the shifted pickle button as 1) I forgot to do so and 2) there really was no need as I never used it anyway.
I agree with your concept that the throttle panel in Morphine’s profile is pretty much a duplicate of your Helios profile so there is no need to have Morphine’s profile on the panel and you can do something else with it like you have suggested.
Any suggestions?
I just wanted you to know that your work is very much appreciated by many of the virtual pilots on this forum.
Thanks! I have received a lot of help from the community and I am very happy to be able to give back to it as well.

@ mantaray: Have you tried “tricking” your PC into thinking you have a US keyboard layout? Might be less work for you. Obviously, you will have to do this as part of your “startup” procedure for BMS, so you’ll have to do it all the time. Anyway, go into Control Panel -> Region and Language -> Keyboards and Languages -> Change keyboards. You might have to Add the US keyboard layout if you don’t have it listed.
Hope that helps!
Shure i did…
but it’s ok now

@ weepop: I’m not entirely sure what you mean when you say “pages do not display” and how did you know that you needed to add a toggle for it to work?In two words “common sense”
If I press a button that should toggle a panel to make it display and it does not, then it is missing the command to make it display so I add it!!This is the order of events:-
I open charts and pick for example Chongju airbase.I am presented with six buttons to display six pages of Chongju nav charts
CHONGJU 5 + VISUAL 05/23 + TCN 05R + TCN 05L + ILS 23R + TCN 23L
Display is showing CHONGJU 5 on left panel and AIRPORT DIAG on right panel.I press second button to change left display to VISUAL 05/23 and nothing happens!!
Display remains on CHONGJU 5. All buttons are the same ie no effect. So as I first stated I use my “common sense” and add a command to each of the last five charts
so when corresponding button is pressed it send a toggle hidden command . Now all works fine.I do not need a command for first chart as it displays OK
(Forget previous statement that I added two toggles to this chart. They make it work correct but are not neededI hope this makes it clear.
Just one thing still puzzles me and that is the involvement of the “button HIDE CHONGJU” down in bottom left corner of left hand chart??
I ask again can you give me an explanation of the setting up of this feature in your profile,I will understand itThanks David**

Hello Ice. Just managed to do some more testing with the latest profile. Great to have fixed the heading and course bit of the HSI. That now working. noticed a couple of other things, and forgive it already brought to attention:
- ILS ‘on’ switch still not working in the side panel. Switching knob from Off to Inc is supposed to turn ILS on, but does not. I still have to go into the 3D pit with mouse to do it and then it works.
- I notice that my Trim button on my Warthog stick no longer trims. It used to prior to this version, but does not. am I missing something basic?
- I notice that when I attempt to use the ICP Contrast/Brightness rotors on your profile, they do not change the HUD projection at all, but instead move my mouse around the 3D cockpit. Speaking of contrast, on you profile MFDs, I take it the brighten/darken MFD display rockers do not work? I have to go into the 3D pit and use mouse to adjust the brightness of the MFDs. This planned?
As always, many thanks for your efforts and I know it is a work in progress. Very much appreciated!

@ dawgboy: Glad to know it’s working for you. Yes, you can obviously change the DX HOTAS settings to suit your preferences…. the Helios profile really does not interact with the HOTAS in any way except for the fact that they both use the .key file to work in BMS.
Ice…I found three issues. For some reason the F-ACK callback line was causing my TrackIR to go red and stop working. The ICP AA and AG buttons would cycle the radar OFF. I have replaced the lines in your file with the lines in mine, and all seems good. db

Hi everyone… I am completely new to Helios. I am trying to use Ice’s profile to setup a cockpit on a touch screen below my main screen. I am slowly coming right with the setup reading all the helpful tips on the forums. The only thing I cant figure out at all is how Ice extracts all the various cockpit components to the Helios screen. With the cockpit extractor that comes with Falcon only a few things like the HUD, MFDs and DED can be extracted for example. How do you extract all the other bits and pieces?
Please help! Regards.

Use MFDE.

Lol thanks… Just did. Couldn’t figure out how to open options on MFDE. Only noticed the icon in the taskbar a few minutes ago… Works like a charm now. Thanks.

Thanks for testing guys! I will look into this over the next few days.
@ weepop: Basically, each Nav page (Chongju, Kunsan, Seoul, etc.) has a HIDE button. Each time you press a different button (Visual, TCN, etc.) what it basically does is to hide all charts then display the one you want. For example, if you have pages 1-5, with page 1 shown by default (and is also the lowest on the “stack” so any page displayed will display OVER it). You press page 4 and it comes up. You press page 3 and the HIDE button first “cleans up” by hiding all the pages then displays page 3.
Hope that makes sense.
However, you should NOT have to do this because it is built in already.
apoll and dawgboy, do YOU guys have issues with the charts? Please test as it seems only weepop has this problem.
@ apoll: Trim should still be working. ICP wheel upper left should work… but any Helios manipulation does move the in-cockpit mouse. I already have a fix for this. The MFD rockers are new in 4.33 IIRC so I’ve not bound them yet.
@ dawgboy: F-ACK shouldn’t mess with TIR, I’ll take a look.

Ice, no issues with charts at this stage. Can access them with the push on the RWR and they work as advertised. But I have not gone through all of them and I shall this weekend to test and make sure all is good. But initial testing would suggest so. Hmmm. I wonder why my trim no longer works? It definitely does not with my latest iteration. Just to be clear in case it is causing me problems…I DO load Morphine’s script (well, Boxin’s updated version of Morphine’s Warthog profile) via the TARGET Script Editor BEFORE launching BMS…to ensure my control axes are not porked. Do you all do this as well? I am still hoping to be able to use the full functionality of the Warthog IN ADDITION to using Helios and Ice’s profile. Would this cause problems? I do use Ice’s latest keyfile in the User/Config folder via the BMS Controls UI. I’m not sure what is happening; I must see if I have any functionality on my Warthog even remotely resembling Morphine’s profile.
Ah…the struggle for perfection in the cockpit. it starts with getting the basics right and then goes ever higher in the search for refinement. But essential: can’t even think about taking on the beastly North Koreans without a fully functioning controls setup! Last about two nanoseconds.

Thanks for confirming that, apoll! All chart pages are done under the same format so if one page is working, all should be working. However, just to double-double-double-check, can you confirm that CHONGJU pages are working? This is the page that weepop refers to.
I’ve released new files for you guys to try out!
It should be working fine for 4.33 now, but there might be minor things that I’ve missed. As usual, feel free to post any problems you find. For the guys that usually overwrite the DX section, PLEASE give my default stuff a try first and see if it works for you. I would hope that the standard F-16 stuff should be good (TMS, DMS, etc.). If you still feel the need to make any changes, I would really like to know what you’ve changed for your profile and why. Even if it’s just “personal preference,” at least that will give me an idea of what other people assign to particular buttons.

Ok Ice. Will do. Pls stand by.

I reviewed your target profile and have one question. Why did you move the slap switch from the CMS Press button to the MIC Press button? Was there a coding problem or just your preference? If I wanted to move it back to the CMS Press function, what would I have to change in the key file? Am I wrong or does the slap switch still appear o the CMS press in your profile?
Thanks for all your hard work

SobeI did not “move” it, I “duplicated” it. CMS IN should still be slap switch, as well as MIC IN. I added in MIC because 1) pressing CMS would sometimes also register a CMS Up/Down/Left/Right as I panic and 2) the slap switch is on the left wall so I thought it would be better for the left hand to be operating it compared to the right hand.

Ice Your the man!! Thank you
and here is a small video
Sweet setup! Glad you like it!

Attached are some crude but maybe useful diagrams of -ice’s profile for the TM WH.
-
The throttle friction lever moves the radar cursor up/down in elevation.
As much as I like that diagram, there’s just not enough space for the actual commands and the shifted commands.

Hey Ice. More testing today. Chongju page seems ok. Works. BUT I am beginning to think there is something fundamentally wrong with my stick. I have loaded the latest Helios profile, the latest TARGET script file and your latest UI key file. Inhale selected your key file in the BMS UI controllers bit to load. The profile works well BUT when I use the stick, say the DMS for example, all manner of crazy commands are happening. For example, I select DMS up and it declutters the left radar screen. I select DMS right and it switches SOI to the HSD page in the left MFD and won’t switch back. The pinky button kind of expands the FOV and the trim 4 way button on the stick did nothing until I mapped it manually in the UI controller screen. I hit DMS left and it started the bit test for the left MFD. in short, crazy. It is as if there are a whole bunch of commands clogging the WH, and they are certainly not corresponding with your profile. I can’t use the WH at the moment.
There is a clue; I mentioned before that the Trim button was not working…not doing anything until I manually mapped it myself. It seems like the WH is not being loaded with the correct key file. I have selected it in the UI…that should be enough, right? Is it something to do with the TARGET script running that has porked something? How to I purge my WH of all previous scripts and commands so I can be sure only your new script is being loaded? Is there a conflict somewhere? I am desperate to fix this, as I cannot continue with training while I can’t even get the right commands happening.Help!
