Toto's Helios BMS Profile WIP

Try the link in post 5. I think that works

Okay. Got the text file. What HOTAS do you use? If a Warthog, can you please send me your profile.
Thanks -
I use the cougar, but most of my profile is DX buttons so you should be fine using your existing warthog profile if it is DX. The included .key file is simply a modification of the .bms key file and is required to make the Helios profile work correctly.

Toto, I can’t get you MFDs and Up front controller push buttons to work. I wonder what I’m doing wrong? I need to set the Helios add interface key file to yours, right? The one in the user/config/ folder?

Just drop the Toto_Helios.key file in your user/config folder and make sure to load it in BMS. You shouldn’t have to do anything to my Helios profile except run it.

Thanks Toto. I got it working. I think the issues was that it was not picking up the correct key profile in the configuration folder in bms. I seemed to have fixed it, and it works. Good profile; I like the push button nature of it. Thanks for making and sharing it. One question if I may: I am next turning my attention to a good Warthog profile for the hotas, as I have a thrustmaster warthog. I am assuming, and correct me if I’m wrong here, that I will take the key file of the profile I get, and use enable that in the setup. I do not have to use ‘Toto-key’ in the configuration? Or it doesn’t matter? Can you recommend a good warthog hotas profile? Thanks.
Regards,
Apoll

I use a cougar, so I can’t help you too much. I use a mostly DX buttons so I don’t need to really program my cougar unless I want to use the pinky switch as a modifier. You should be able to program most of your warthog in falcon by clicking on the command in the key file in setup then pressing the button you want to use.

Hey Toto,
Looks impressive.
I too use WH, Helios and have a HP touchscreen. Have always found the additional ease of use rather than mouse clicking to be worth the effort and cost.
Keep up the good work mate!

Why are there no MFD buttons around your MFD?
-
@-Ice To make the MFDs larger, I’m going to put invisible buttons on the MFD’s. So the user would tap the actual spot on the MFD they want to manipulate.

Interesting! It’s gonna be tight! I find it hard enough to get the proper MFD button, much less if they’re “invisible.” However, you probably could make the touch area bigger if you’d putting the buttons manually…
-
@-Ice Yeah, I realized the OSB buttons made the MFDs considerably smaller, and with a non-skeuomorphic touchscreen, there was no need to actually HAVE buttons if the user can simply press the word on the MFD itself. This approach allowed me to make the MFDs 30-40% larger without sacrificing space for other buttons. And because I can make the invisible buttons as large as I want they should be relatively easy to press… We’ll see how it works in execution though! I’m not 100% positive I can code it correctly.
-
Shouldn’t be too hard to do! Actually, that gives me an idea…. I hope you don’t mind me copying this technique onto my MFD. I’ll still keep the MFD frame but at least I can make the “touch area” of the buttons bigger.

Yeah man, sounds good. I decided to go the non-skeuomorphic route because yours is already so good, no need to reinvent the wheel! I got the inspiration for v0.2 of my profile from the F-35 cockpit touchscreen interface.

Currently turning the concept art into graphics. Then I’ll have to build the profile and code it. I hope to have it done in February, but no promises.

Hi Toto are you still working on it?
Currently on hiatus due to RL. Hope to get back to it this summer.
