Norway Theater - Lets do it!
-
Still no. I simply dont know what I have to do. Monsters Tool does not working for 4.33 maps.
:(:( -
Hi Tom
Hopefully some understanding can help to unclog the project, since so wonderful geography of the area, new naval operations and the overall improvement of the land in version 4.33, and your skill, this theater promises to be a mandatory.

Well needs a guide for working on 4.33 if you worked on 4.32. What and how can be tranfered and what is needed to transfer things.
4.33 terrain is said that it works in TE.
iirc u must rename the folder, or if you have your theater folder from 4.32 and put it in 4.33 it should work.
about polaks files u just rename those in
C:\Falcon BMS 4.33\Data\Terrdata\korea\terrain
just erase the “_POLAK” from the filenames to make it work…
Didn’t test it just posted so, but it sounds logical.About LodEditor and F4browse and Tacedit.
you will have to redo all and have them at the same naming / parents etc. In Tacedit IIRC you can export - import things up.So if you export objectives from 4.32 with Falcon Editor and import them in 4.33 it should work.

Hi Tom,
If Norway is Add-On Theater it should be OK to see it in Monster’s TE and BMS 4.33 as long as you have Theater.lst and Theater.tdf. Let know if need further help? -
Tom i copied for a test a theater from 4.32, In terrdata folder i copied weather and ofcourse the default objects folder, I run the tacedit open the Campaigns and rebuild the squadrons and fixed units. Result : No crash other than when exiting the sim therefore campaigns run normally but i get some Airbases covered in trees wich can be easily fixed by moving them acordingly cause in air you can se definatelly the “square” that the bas must be. Ill try to do the sam with your theater and i will tell you the results.

First Test seems ok but no trees around….
-
Hi! In order to have autogen trees, you have to edit the terrain tiles with terrain editor.
Then, for each tile set, you have to assign forest areas, dense or light. Just as you assign water areas, paths, roads and so on.
This information will be saved in TEXTURE.BIN.
That’s it, easy procedure but time consuming. Must have some patience to make some hundreds or thousands of circles.

Too much time consuming for me… But the porting of the theater succeded… so i might make some tests… if its ok with Tom ofcourse…

Some tests… playing around with Terrain Editor

Looking very good! It would be truly amazing to be able to fly back home in BMS, keep up the good work (please please please)!

Hmmmm …. Looks nice, but not what I imagined Norway to look like. Never been there, but I was expecting something like:
Especially this time of year.
-
Looks like typical summer in Northern Norway to me……
-
Norwegian theatre will be awesome. This remind me of the days of Eurofighter EF2000. Lovely landscape in this theatre.
-
@Tom:
Good old times.
-
@Tom:
Good old times. Thanks for helping to relive those moments through that video post.
-
This theater truly warrants the effort to get it up to speed. Even if it’s an air war only type campaign.
The BMS planeset just screams for this terrain to fight over.
-
First, thanks Tom for all your effort making this coming along. Hope you get Everything sorted out so your focus can come back here. This theater looks awesome. Flying thee Fjords and be able to shoot something, just not obly fly for there for the thrill like in FSX
@ ccc1tw, where to get this awesome swedish Aircraft? Any of them working for 4.33? Do you know if anyone done the grip? All available in FSX so the 3d models are done by someone, would be nice getting it into F4 as a good G4/5 fighter, perfect suite for this scenario.
Keep up the good work, hope you get some more help with the circle drawing for the trees
Best reg. M -
I just wanted to give everybody an update on Norway. I have been contact with Tom and Manos for quite some time. Tom was kind enough to give me permission to work Norway, while Manos was equally kind enough to provide me with his 4.33 conversion.
Vagabond has been working with me on this project. He has modified/repaired the terrain path links in a similar manner to the pioneering work that has been done in Guam. I have put a lot of effort into the campaign file in order to make it fun and challenging alike. For those who have flown Korea 2012, you will see that I have used many of those elements in this theatre. At the moment, all of the unseen cam file components: links, etc have been completed. All of the air assets for the air campaign have been selected and located as required. The campaign is set in a late 1990/early 2000 era type time frame with Russian Forces battling against NATO. Russian Forces are armed with Mig-29 and Su-27/33 type fighters while NATO is armed with a multitude of aircraft appropriate to the time period. At the moment, my main focus is adding ground units. The SAM and AAA on the Russian side will be much more modern that those found in Korea. Ground battalions will armored units only. This will allow the campaign to move quickly like a real world military conflict located ion the modern era. As I get further along, I will post additional updates
I am always open to suggestions and offers of help.
-
Chuckles,
this is great good news indeed! And, just about the help also in creating the campaign, …
Nothing to do with that amazing Clancy-Bond’s “Red Storm Rising” scenery background, in any case. With my warm compliments and best regards,

Great to see this taking shape! A late 1990’s / early 2000’s time frame should have Gripens too
I do have FreeFalcon Gripen files (3D model in DXM, textures, data file) which I can contribute. Permission to use them is not an issue: the basic files are from SAAFOPS, and were willingly by the SAAFOPS team presented to the FF team for incorporation in FF. In FF, mainly Anthony Thomas (Ranger822) has tweaked them and at the demise of FreeFalcon he wrote: "I have thrown an open carte blanc permission for anyone at BMS to use my personal work for non-commercial purposes which really revolves around ITO2,
Aegean-FF and Taiwan-FF "
