Finding targets on cas missions
-
I am practicing using mavericks but in 8 shots I haven’t hit a thing and can’t seem to figure out if I am shooting at a tank or not. All I see in the maverick image is tiny white squares. I launched at them but did not hit a tank. What does a tank look like in a maverick image or am I somehow too high. I am doing the attack from 19k or so. Also I am shooting from about 5k out of the target by the time I find them anyway. Is there a video that covers finding ground targets. I see them on the radar at least I think so as a long line of broken dots, but I don’t see anything in the maverick image that I can easily say that’s a tank.

Using TGP narrow setting or in WPN shift-v?

If your using 4.33 mavericks have changed a bit. I’ve found the best way to find targets is to use tgp handoff because the tgp has much better resolution than the maverick itself and I can go into narrow mode as well as zoom in. Once you do it a couple times the handoff procedures are pretty quick, you have to boresight each group of mavericks before you get to the target. Also another change in 4.33 - make sure the cross on the wpn page is solid and not flashing or the mav won’t track. You’ve got to put the cross in the keyhole and keep a basically level flight. I think you can have 30 degrees of pitch or roll. Let me know if your not on 4.33 though cause it’ll be a bit different.
