Test low-poly toys in BMS4..

onboard the invincible… i did not edit parking dots… so some ac hanging outside.
ready to roll… deck is clear… lack of crew and support vehicles.
airborne…no problem!
BTW…FYI i move [submarine lod] downward 50ft in LE, the sub become invisible in closer distance in 3d world, yet barely visible at far distance or viewing from some angle. then i move lod downward 150ft in LE, it becomes totally invisible-submerged.
i tried to edit and activate mk46 torpedo for a while, no go. after checking agm84A, i think mk46 can use its guidance setting- RBL/BOL, search area, and skimming at sea level… just travelling at much slower speed. the active terminal maneuvoring would be cool, if doable. -
Also tuned some F-35 stylish arcade AFM replacing the stock F-16CM-40, basically lift fans added to the F-16. Have fun with that too.

i use yak141 model to test the fm sample…yes arcadish but very powerful in acceleration. when i slow down to hovering phase- the ac shaking vertically -then enter crazy spin(in cockpit), and explore in the end. the ac 3d model becomes invisible when it enters spin.
@Parislord, that pic seems come from some FPS game?
i’ve low-poly crew, deck vehicles, and Seaking lod with rotor blade and tail boom folded.
put all of them together can easily reproduce the pic - but better leave to modellers want to build hi-polys. -
fly harrier vs mirage TE… 4 vs 4.
in most cases harrier+aim9M can toast mirage+aim9B/super 530D.
in one case i have a head-on gunkill harrier, and my wingman damage one with 9B…
when flying harrier(AV8+), the slow speed handling and turning is excellent - i once draw a mirage into turning, and use vector thrust/viffing to let him overshoot. -

Hi. Mav-JP once said that the BMS flight model is using 3D model for determining the position of the weapons and therefore evaluate the gravity center of the airplane.
Maybe your changing to another 3D model causes an aft center of gravity, inducing instability.
Try F-16CM-40 itself with 8xAGM-65 then.

the result is the same… i take off vertically from carrier, no problem… the engine is powerful. when back to carrier, slow down and level…it may induce vertical oscillation… need more test later.
Hmm…I think I figured out a little bit. Modified the files and hopefully it will solve the problem.

I probably asked this before, but do you have any intention of packaging up some of this stuff for a campaign modder, or are you just torturing us?!
Seriously, though, there are some very interesting things we could do with your toys. I’ll bet Molni could work some serious magic.

the lod files are up at mediafire site for loooooooooong time.
As for building a dedicated DB, the job is too much for me… just too many parameters to edit! every time i give it a try, i got headache in the end and give up.
hope the community has capable DB editors want to take the job.:mrgreen:last lod check today… obsolete SAM… hmm…booster should have 3d flame…
TE test, low level attack profile- around 500ft, AI ac can attack airbase with retard bomb.
the skyhawks carry british mk17 1000lb.another TE test- eight skyhawks low level attack two type 42. several down by seadart SAM. AI ac failed to hit ships. one type 42 damaged by me.

Just to see what happens, created a low-tech, guns-only campaign…
FAA 802 Sqdn Scimitar cat-shot (notice unusual fuselage-mounted high-lift devices):
Climb-out (beautiful two-tone scheme):
Shacked a squad of troops in the open:
“Scimitar, ball, fuel-state 42” (Notice the meatball; high-and-fast):
Cut-pass, four-wire trap:
Time for some quality “counseling” with the Air Boss and CO… : P

Very good…you’re getting familiar with LE dancing!
Btw,
For gun-only fight, you need doctor X’s tweak.
And, for old RN ac, Nimitz is too big…try use colossus carrier Lod, in suez-canal war-1956 folder,
CV centaur or eagle.zip. -
“…Doctor X’s tweak”?
…and I have enough trouble landing on the big-ones!

Too true, took all-day to get the slots to work, properly. There’s an additional offset term beyond just the xyz coordinates once the .lod is converted to .dxm on this one. I’ve nearly gone bald…

Hi. Your MK-46 Torpedo:
Caution:
1. Be careful using Time Acceleration. More than x4 Accel may result in a crash into the water or inaccurate missile navigation.
2. Do not use LOFT option. Use SKIM instead. Or it will also crash into water when in lofting stage.

Hi. Your MK-46 Torpedo:
WOW~ BIG THANKS!!!
my test result is really cool…
i know it’s a f16/fast combat tempo simulation, just can’t resist to explore the possibiliy once i notice BMS4.33 AGM84A has many features similiar to a torpedo,
so i ask LJQN101 tweak a missile.dat for fun test.lets enjoy the show…
first, load A6 with four round of mk46 torpedo(acutally modded harpoons), fly low and slow to simulate ASW ac or helicopter. Four Friendly type42 destroyers are placed as targets.:mrgreen:i power up torpedo as AGM84 do, set WPN page to - large area search, Skim, fly low, and… Torpedo away!
ithe tweaked missile dat is not prefect yet… once torp fired, the backward drag force is too big that trop flipping over far behind the ac for a while, then stablized, and enter an ODD loft flight stage(if possible, falling down to sea level ASAP). the trop speed is deaccelerated down to 40-50kt once stablized. in final stage, i notice it fly down to 40-40ft above sea level( lower is better).
i circling over ships to wait torp moving close… ya it takes quite a while, the torp trail is too thick and fat, better thinner and longer.
As i fire this fake torpedo in BOL mode, i intentionally aim at the empty space between two ships, see if seeker can search and pick its target – YES!!
it adjusts the course and persuits one poor type42(at 25 or 30kt)…the heart-pumping scene: torpedo inboud, bearing 1-9-0!!this moment makes seamen heart broken…direct hit!!
if i edit the damage point… the ship should have explored and burning.
this pic shows few seconds before torp hit…ship captian’s nightmare!!a further doable test is flying ASW ac/helo to attack a sub- once hit, the sub surface with the visible lod. BUT keep in mind there’s no code to support ASW dectection and identification phase.
Alright, just for fun, and thanks LJQCN101 for assisting the show.

Here comes another simulated ASW TE test…
code RED: unknown submerged contact near the fleet, TF command order quick-response ASW operation.
lynx ASW choppers are ready on HMS hermes.lift and rudder turn toward target…
lower dipping sonar!( alright, just eyecandy) - contact located and identified!
this time the target is a ship(or sub) using NO LOD. so i see nothing but blue water.
use WP mark as guide, fire fake torpedo in BOL mode.
i got this pic after several flights…firing many fake torpedos, most of them failed.
here’s one of the two successful hits…torp makes turn at last moment to hit the simulated, invisible sub!
mission accomplished!! -
Op black buck…tankers up first…
mid-flight refueling…
bomb away! - sixteen british 1000lb GP…
the second ripple of bombs hit the target.
two vulcans, two cuts on runways. -
Time to hammer british amphibious landing force…
i found a close bay landscape looks great for falkland channel/goose green- just north of Wonson AFB/port. so i put an amphibous naval unit there, and let several waves of ac to attack it. after tweaking parameters in f4browse, AI ac still no good at this low-level attack setting…anyway here’s the show… fly low-n-fast, hit two ships.
A fearless class got hit!
two skyhawks fly across my view - tiny and fast, just like vid clip.
dagger joint the action…
-
last batch of pic to conclude the simulated falkland war…
British GUs’ moving to capture the capital and AFB, both sides send out all remaining attackers and choppers to support ground operation…explosions everywhere…
british seakings’ moving to support…
and this pic shows my wingman FRS1 chasing a pucara… downed in flame seconds later…
