If you’re going to use Trustmasters MFD’s I don’t see the need for touch-screens. In regard to TARGET I have very little (if any) experience in using the software, but I know that it cowers the setup of Trustmasters MFD’s (as well as The Cougar and Warthog sticks and thottles).
The beauty of BMS thoug, is that you don’t really need TAGET for programming your MFD’s. It can be done in the UI or by editing your preffered keyfile. If you don’t have any experience in editing BMS keyfiles, you’ll find that some of the files in the default install already have them implemented. (Can’t remember the exact location, but take a look in some of the documentation in the BMS install).
In regard to monitor size…. 7" (800x600) is a good fit for Trustmaster MFD’s
Best regards

+1 for 7" LCDs.

I use 9" LCD’s at 768x1280 resolution. Room for the MFD’s and fuel, RWR and a few other small displays.

Thanks for lots of input. I will stick with cheap w8 tablet for now. Will try posting pics soon. Oh yea, it impresses me overall. Jetseat, just got TIR, pretty powerful rig and wonderful 55in panel.

Hey Stevie Just got MFD’s today, You say 7" LCD’s or Monitors fit nicely, Is there suppose to be hanger over of the monitors when attached to the MFD’s? I have a desktop setup so no pit. you also say 7" monitors/Lcd fit well, is that true (no big gaps). Also will a powered USB hub do since you need four usb ports attached to your main computer will it do the trick? Last question will a NON touch type monitor/Lcd work or does a touch screen need to be used?

Would these do?Weaklink

Yes - 7" ones work almost like they were made for the MFD bezels. Since I’m doing a cockpit I have to mount mine upside down to put the large edge of the LCD frame at the top to fit behind the structure properly, but for a desk setup you can build a suitable box to hold your MFD/LCD/ICP, etc. and mount them right-side up behind the panel. 7" screens will fill the whole MFD space - just mount them as you see they fit to fill.
Yes - use a powered USB 3 hub to ensure you get good video signal transmission, and you will also need a 12 VDC power supply to power the panels themselves. Your Alibaba link didn’t work for me, so I can’t see what you are looking at, but any of the 7" VGA ones from Chinatobby on E-bay will do the job. Check here, and look for 800x600 ones. Chinatobby also sells panel power supplies.
No - you do not need touch screens. Mapping the Thrustmaster MFD buttons to the keystrokes is all that is needed.
Enjoy!

You don’t need Target to use the MFD Bezels. And in fact its highly inadvisable. If you are using it for a joystick untick the MFD so there not included in the profile
Assign functions in the Falcon Controller page. Highlight the function you want to assign then push the bezel button to suit.
Easy as apple pie and icecream.

Hey Shadow what resolution can support the MFD’s picture to give a clear image, any suggestions?
-
Mine are 768x1280, but others have reported 600x800 works fine. I mounted my MFDs on the monitors with sticky-backed velcro. If you mount them upside down, as I also had to do, and want to use the device DX buttons, you must edit the key file so the DX buttons are assigned to the correct MFD positions.
-
600x800 works great. No need for higher, waste of resources. Barely any difference.

+1. 600x800.

Hey Stevie, what program do you use to send MFD picture to MFD, downloaded Lightening but it doesn’t work. Got Icon in tray get start, stop, options and exit but nothing seems to work. If I use BMS Config and select export to external display it enters window mode and game play (msn running) nothing got any ideas?
Running win 7 bit 64 lighten ver 0.6.11

I have Lighting’s MFDE but have only used it in a static mode to verify that my LCDs are functioning, so far. I’m presently awaiting delivery of a small jewelers drill press and milling table and then I can complete making the mounts for my LCDs to put them behind my instrument panel/bezels and get on with things a bit. I’ll let folks know (probably in pictures…) when I have something actual to report.

MFD Extraction by Lightning is easiest to use and Gura’s Pit Tools consumes a bit less resources. Both function well on my Win 10 I7 PC. When you right click on MFDE icon in the task bar and choose options with left click, you should invoke an applet that lets you select the instruments to export. You just then drag and size the instrument displays with the mouse.
