4.33.1 will release shortly: what you need to know and how to be prepared
-
I really fail to see why everyone is so excited by this. We get to pay (an admittedly paltry) fee to people unrelated to the development of either the original Falcon or BMS, none of which will ever go to the people who’ve put work into making BMS into what it is today.
Kinkodoyle and others with similar mindsets.
- Firstly, after many years Falcon 4.0 and its predecessors is now readily available again.
- Second, its priced very reasonably.
- Third, Whoever paid for the rights to publish it again have contributed capital that went too the original owners who paid the wages of the people involved in its production.
- Forth point, many of those originally involved in bringing us Falcon 4.0 continued to work on patching even after they were no longer paid to do so, why, because they loved what they had produced.
- Fifth. Like many others BMS continues that tradition of love for the sim we all have enjoyed in the past still enjoy and now are ensured that we will continue to enjoy in the future.
- Last point. They can now do so under a formalized agreement which I’m shore gives the BMS group a sense of recognition and appreciation for their efforts in a way that has never been so in the past.
All for the price of a beer. I think Tommo or who ever now owns the publishing rights deserves to remain profitable.
Why, because they ARE publishing it. Whingers and whiners begone.
And that’s all I have to say about that.

When in doubt I whip it out. My original CD that is of course. Let’s get going…

This sims and the community deserved this agreement. On my way to buy a copy from Steam.
Title: Falcon 4.0
Genre: Simulation
Developer: Microprose
Publisher: Retroism
Release Date: 1 Jan, 1998Retroism is a division of Tommo, so I guess this will be allright for 4.33.1
-
Well Tommo doesn’t directly sell the product. So ain’t obvious by knowing that?
-
Everything is bad. I’ll fly in DCS!
-
-
Hopefully GOG works fine without needing extra patching. So amped up for the changelist

OK I downloaded falcon 4.0 from Steam. What is next? I can’t find a download area. I think I need to find BMS 4.33. Where is it? How do I do it? Why is this so hard? Thanks
-
Simply because the 4.33.1 is not available yet. Comming very soon.
BTW: Hi. Welcome.

This is not hard.
It is only that it is not available yet. Will be soon.

Uh oh…the Instant Gratification Dependent people are here…
-
The only really disturbing thing is the BMS team using words like “shortly” and everyone else avoiding “3/4 weeks”

Without having read the whole thread - first of all thanks to you guys and Tommo. Keeping development up is a good thing no matter what.
I do have one question - since my original F4 CD has been used quite a bit since 1998 when I bought the sim - is there a Digital Download Version, one could obtain for a small amount of money? Or is there an option for Disk owners to obtain such a version for free?
Just asking. -

Just asking. You will find that in gog.com (part of "The Falcon Collection) or Steam.
