SimShaker for DCS World and Falcon BMS support thread

I have removed the dust from a home made buttkicker and now i am a very happy user of the software!!! It is too nice to have the chair informing if if i am pulling too much AoA or if i am taxing too fast
Once assembled i did not used my setup, because it was too bad having voices in the butt… Now everithing is perfect. It would be wonderful to add a small feature to the software. A small play button beside the effects, so we could fine tune the volume of each effect one by one, out of the sim.

LOL, replying at the same time, I’ll try it tonigbt, coming home from a short vacation.
Obi1, Andre thought there maybe a way to reverse the input using the editor, I just forgot!!!Hi Snake122,
Sorry I did not reply to your suggestions yet. I was away too for some days.
And thanks for the suggestion about the editor changes. Actually I had looked at it before but didn’t want to risk making changes that could damage Andre his base install.
Would have been a nice to have if possible to invert from within the standard settings menu.Cheers Obi

I believe and hopefully Andre will confirm, all you will have to do to go back to the originals is uncheck the box in the window with the JetSeat to use own uwv files. UWVeditor is actually pretty easy to use, you just don’t always know for sure which effect you editing.
Here’a a picture from Andre’s linked guide:

Yes, that’s right. Or, if you don’t like the result, just delete that file in your folder.

Frankly speaking, for me that looks unnatural.
So I’d prefer you guys to test it and report do you really like it first. -
Or Obi1 give me a few days and I will create some of those files to better simulate lateral G and I can share them with you.

Andre,
Would refuel boom connection be something that the pilot feels?
(eagerly awaiting package :P)
Cheers,

ScubHi Scub,
we don’t have such an effect in SimShaker. -
No I know, I mean RL…

Not sure, good question.
If Andre wanted to do it it would have to be based on the light bits in the shared memory for the AR/NWS light which would also probably mean you would feel a bump when you enabled NWS. The disconnect effect would actually be easier since the DISC light only turns on for a boom disconnect.

Just thought of something, I believe there is a WOW bit as well, so you could separate the NWS from AR if the WOW is off. A small bump in the chair back for AR light on with no WOW and then DISC light on would be fun if you get the chance Andre, but I understand if you have more important things to do.
-
I’d like jettison weapons before AR.
-
I agree but the shared memory is the shared memory. Is there anything in there that would indicate a jettison? There is the stores config light coming on but that could be due to you flipping the switch. Also in theory, not all jettisons cause a CATIII to CATI change.
The AR bump is relatively low hanging fruit I think compared to stores jettison unfortunately.
-
couldnt it be done using a keypress?.. if i do an emergency jettison i have to hold done certain keys on the keyboard (or hotas but still keypress) and i need to hold it for iirc 3 seconds, couldnt the software capture that in some form?

If Andre builds in keystroke detection yes, but then the problem is what is your specific keystroke for jettison (mine is space bar so I can hit it easily) and then does Andre have to allow the keystroke to be reprogrammed. Not impossible, but more code to the project with other things cooking.
-
It’s not always a keystroke, either. Could be a DX button, a key combo, or no binding at all. If I were Andre, I would stick to things available via shared mem.
-
Opposed to the WOW bit, there’s also the flying bit that could be used.
André, I’m sure you know about it, but there a small app for the sharedmem bits, variables and flags in the tools\sharedmem folder of BMS.
should be very useful to you for these sort of thingsKeystroke detection will make the program much more complicated. Stick to sharedmem and if there is anything that needs to be added, I will always relay the info in dev.
Changes to the sharedmem are not done often because it’s not always backwards compatible but from time to time we add a bunch of new features at the same time. So make sure I know about it so I can properly relay and request the changes.
For the record, I already mentioned the ones you have on your blog -

Now the Buttkicker is no longer a Bass shaker, the jettison sound does not create a bump like it used to. Oh well if it is impossible, then I shall just have to live with missing it.
Also, I have a question about the Buttkicker being attached to my setup for hands, arms feet etc. vibration. Will the vibrations have an impact on the electronics? I will have the volume fairly low as it is just for hands, arms and feet. Not worried about the FSSB, I have a tiny deadzone for that.

Hmm, let me see what is going on with my transducers tonight.
While I think it is probably a minor concern, that is part of the reason why I didn’t mount the shakers directly to the stick and pedals.
