Just a question. Can/should we use this ‘3dbuttons.dat’ file in every other theater and with stock KTO as an updated version to the default BMS version?
Or is it really intended to be only used with this 1 specific Balkans theater?Cheers Obi1

Mortesil: A10 love and BMS. As far as I know (and could test), the A10 need a very permissive environment to operate (surface to air defense wise). Do you manage to use it in a rather AAA heavy environment, at low altitude (when you’re sure there’s no Manpads?) Is damage resistance simulated satisfactorily to you?

What is this hires A10 btw? Is it public and available? And is it with same dds number but higher res variant?

Not particularly. A while back I changed one of the A-10s in a theater quite substantially to get it to feel more like the flying tank it should be, but that did not sit well in MP code checks…
It can be done though. In my opinion the hard part is not staying alive, it’s finding targets. Low level terrain textures don’t do you any favors in that regard, so it can be a bit of a pain to search them out. Typically you don’t really see them until they start shooting at you in a lot of the theaters with darker terrain tiles. It would be nice though if the DB was updated a little to give it a longer life in the wild. Not saying it should be invincible, but the old hawg can take a bit of a beating. Should not disintegrate into flame balls after 2 shots from a 30m on a 2S6.
This is why I avoid the A-10 in this game (shame cause my DCS wont work anymore). I cannot spot anything at all! Well not until I see the MANPAD coming right up to me…
