Amazing skin, Dema!
But probably you know that the special tail is only one in the herd of Italian wolves!

Hi Arty and others,
I’ll try to explain in pictures.
Here is a “light” in Falcon:The light 'model" itself is just a few triangles with a TEXTURE attached to render color. Now mind the Polys rendered, 20 for one little yellow light. Also if we view it obliquely in game we cannot see it. It is basically a 3D x, so if you pan off of a face it disappears.
Here are the new “threshold lights” in GUAM POC:
Now again, mind the Polys rendered. Here we have 8 lights that render obliquely for a Poly\FPS cost of ~33% > than the single light. As well they have NO texture attached to them. So only one Draw call. Not a bad deal…Huh???..LOL!!!
Now I will include some pictures of the further work on this concept:
I did not post Screenies with FPS displayed in the first series because the FPS hit was HUGE!!!...went from 22\23 in the pit to 13\16…LOL!!!
Here goes the “Slide Show” again.
Yesterday I tried a new technique to address the issue with the 2400+ taxi lights…guess what, it worked!!!Cheers,

Hmmm, maybe to get them a little bigger as also more brighter?
Just a good thinking…

sure but they already look strange… this makes them lighter on the engine sure but more strange???
From the past some personal tests. I recall playing with LOD distances the results where GREAT fps wise. IIRC at LOD 3 I had only the light so It was drawing about max 10-20 of those.
Never got in to having the reflection on the taxiway…

i was talking about something a little more challenging LOL
I think that modern carriers have gyro stabilization, that should reduce the motion to a level below of that seen in the video. Making deck ops more manageable. However my knowledge in the field is limited.
