Lightning´s MFD

You don’t need anything set in Falcon BMS.
Agreed, you shouldn’t, but for some people it will not work without it turned on in BMS. Not sure why.
-
Your first mistake is calling this an “app”… Ugh! I hate it when people do that. This is called a “program.” Fine, fine, you can call those things on mobile devices “apps,” but for things on the computer, they are “programs.”
Second, you don’t need to bind anything, it should detect Falcon and should work once you’re in the 3D world of the sim.
Third, to “work” with the sim, you simply right-click on the taskbar icon, select Options, select what gauges you want from the program UI that pops up, click Apply and OK, and then drag the gauges to where you want them to be. Select the edges/corners to resize gauges. That’s it.
Fourth, there have been problems regarding the MFDs and 4.33… I’m not so sure about 4.33.1 as I’ve not tried it yet. Refer to THIS THREAD to read more about this issue and what others have done to fix it. I would also suggest posting there for further help.
IIRC, having “Enable Cockpit Extraction” only means you can run BMS in windowed mode as well as fullscreen. You can un-tick that and have BMS run fullscreen only but MFDE should still work… I could be wrong in this though as it’s been some time since I tested it. However, you can set “Enable Cockpit Extraction” and nothing from the CDE will display if you set it that way.
Also, depending on your GPU, you might want to have a peruse of my FPS testing thread as I’ve compared CDE+MFDE and MFDE-only on an nVidia GPU.

First, apologize for the term app. Lesson taken!
Second, it´s not happening. I used the adjustments Shadow showed me, but no luck. There is no conexion between the program and the sim. Can´t explain!
Third, lesson taken and appreciated!
Fourth, I deselected MFD´s in Extractor, and left only an altimeter but still no joy! It didn´t work in 3d world of the sim. The problme is not related to MFD (at least for now)…
I think you´re referring to “Cockpit Display in external views” and not “Enable Cockpit Extraction”. Ticked on and off and both ways my altimeter didn´t work…
May be is something related o the new BMS sim (U1)… Don´t know… If someone has the sim working along the extractor, please show me his configuration (BMS and extractor), and I may test in my rig (the videocard is a GTX 970, so I don´t think the problem is related to the graphics). -
You may need to try a different version of MFDE. Like I said, read the thread I linked. Some people had luck with the latest version, others needed to use an older version. To test, do this –- display the HSI, altimeter, and right MFD from MFDE. Maybe add in a few engine gauges as well (RPM, FTIT, etc.). Then use the CDE (Cockpit Display Extraction, or BMS’s own extraction system) to display the left MFD. Don’t use Helios for the moment.
Fire up the sim, launch the first TE. Your HSI, altimeter, etc. should be working, as well as your left MFD. If your right MFD isn’t working, then you know you might need an older version of MFDE. Personally, I’ve had a few times when my MFDs from MFDE would not work, even though they did on a previous flight… but this was 4.32 and early 4.33. I’ve not flown in 4.33.1 yet and I can’t test as my simpit is under construction and my gaming PC isn’t fully assembled

I seem to remember that some people had trouble with MFDE when upgrading to 4.33 or 4.33 u1.
You might try uninstalling MFDE and then delete any Registry entries for it. Reinstall after reboot and setup again.
Or it may have been the data in "Username/AppData/Local/MFDExtractor
Good luck.

I´ve downloaded a previous version (5.9) and the gauges worked well, but not the MFD´s. I can live with that (use CDE for the MFD´s and the rest for MFDE). Not an integrated and elegant solution, but……May be, next version of MFDE brings the corrections that the program needs…

Had that issue also. Uninstalled MFDE, rebooted, reinstalled and set up MFDE again and it started working, using the latest version V0.6.1.1.
-
I did use MFDE and CDE before but noticed that getting rid of CDE increased my fps, that’s why I’d suggest trying to make MFDE work and not use CDE if possible.
-
The only version i could get to show anything was 5.7 i think, the newer ones didn’t even start, the tray icon didn’t respond with mouse clicks. Even then, 5.7 didn’t work in game, the gauges didn’t move and the mfd’s just showed default grpahic, gave up

Run as admin?
-
Ok. Everything is working fine!
The treasure map:
1 - Uninstall MFDE and clean the registry entries. I use a program called REVO Uninstaller, and everything is swept from the computer (files, archives, registry entries);
2 - Erase the file “Username/AppData/Local/MFDExtractor” (I think this is very important);
3 - Reboot;
4 - Install MFDE (last version 6.1.1), and run it (in admin mode);
5 - Setup MFDE like Shadow´s post on this thread;
6 - Make sure “Cockpit Display to external windows” is OFF in BMS configuration
7 - Run BMS (in admin mode).Voilá. Now it´s time to set Helios……

Goodwork……another one bites the dust.

Still no difference for me, lastest version, did your steps, icon sits in tray, nothing happens, doesnt respond with right click ran as admin didnt make any diff.

Ok, hold on. I left the room, and mfde was working when i came back in a few mins later. It seems very slow, any changes i make are taking minutes to come up, any ideas?
-
Again, read the thread I posted. People have had this “slow” problem and maybe the solution is there.

Hi all, newcomer here!
I’ve read the other almost 30 long pages with same threadname, and to all the troubleshooting going on around here, I must say I’m 100% certain it’s your antivirus whose to blame! It’s false positive corrupting your install, or if it didn’t allready it’s working hard to do it. My guess is thats why your computer slows down.
Here it worked first time installation, without any of the other fixes mentioned, but they’re great too, thx alot all
Just disable that antivirus and do the install. -
I use MS security essentials, nothing else. Will try and disable and see how that goes…
-
Uninstalled mfde, stopped the security client, and reinstalled mfde. Still the same, program doesn’t react until 5mins + later. Strange one.
-
Try downloading the file again from the web with mse disabled, and check if it has quarantined files or not. Not sure but just to make sure it doesn’t remove anything from the setup files. The setup should contain 2 files, MFDExtractorSetup.msi & setup.exe
