Installer not recognizing installed version of falcon 4.0 (BMS 4.33)
-
Hey guys, this is my first post as I have just registered. But I have an old copy of falcon 4.0 installed on my computer, and 4.33’s installer doesn’t recognize the file for the original game. This version however is in fact a hard copy, so when installing, it didn’t ask for a license key. I am also running this on windows 10, if that is of any help.
thanks guys

Definitely Falcon 4.0 by Microprose and not Allied Force ? I think I’ve seen some recent win 10 “cant install” threads

can you run the original f4 that you have installed
if not it’s possible it didnt install properly so the check we have would fail -

Not sure what you mean by a ‘hard copy’? Original Falcon 4.0 does not ask for a key when installing anyway - its copyright protection was virtually non-existent. Are you sure that Falcon 4.0 is actually installed or is it just a copy of all the original files stored on your hard drive? It is not the same thing - it should be a valid installation which will appear in the Windows Registry which is no doubt checked by 4.33 U1

4.33 looks for the .exe and 4.33.1 for the installed game.

If you haven’t already done so, install the original Falcon 4.0 in safe mode. That was the only way I was able to install it on Win10.

Hey, I realized it was allied force, I bought the original 4.0 and it works, lol I’m just a newb, thanks though
