Reinstalling Issue: "The registry entry…"
-
Ok appearently you just put the registry in the same folder in your installer app.
Question: why is this forum so dead, its like a graveyard in here.
The first post of this same thread tells you how to use the *.reg file (I emphasized the procedure). Unzip the file you downloaded. Right-click on the resulting unzipped file. Select “Merge”.
-
- you can manually cleanup any leftover BMS 4.32 registry entries by using this file (unzip, right-click, select “merge”), works for both 32bit and 64bit OS:

Did you run the registry cleaner already? (Link in first post) If so, perhaps your Falcon 4.0 install is not correct and requires a re-install.
-
Updated 4.33 u1

Big thx…
-
Thanks Shadow. Didn’t know the “Cleaner” had been updated.

Until Dunc gets around to updating His primary Post I’m sharing My version.
Least I could do.

I tried the File but unfrotunately i still get the same “the registry entry points to a folder….” message afterwards. I am using weindows 10 64Bit and have a steam version of Falcon 4.0. Would appreciate any Help. Thank you in advance!

Sorry I don’t Have Win 10.
Some kind sole may be able to edit the file for Win 10.

Bump
Can Someone with Win10 and a competent knowledge base check the function of the above reg entry please.
You don’t need to delete your install, just rename the install folder name slightly, run the cleaner and see if you can reinstall, if you can then after install is finished delete that new install (or rename) then change the previous install’s folder name back to what it should be.
Thanks

Although I have faith in Shadow’s knowledge I’ll verify it for ya in a few hours.
sent from my Xperia Z3 compact via TapaTalk
Edit: just checked yeap it’s ok

I’m running Windows 10, 64bit, and have the GOG download for Falcon 4.0. The F4 files are all saved in the GOG folder in C:, but when I run the registry editor for BMS 4.33 with it saved either in 1) Desktop or 2) GOG root folder or 3) within the BMS 4.33 setup folder nested in the F4 folder, and try the “merge” function, I have no luck. Any ideas?
-
What are you trying to do ? And why ?
-
Trying to reinstall BMS 4.33 after the Israeli Campaign seem to have bugged my installation, making it unstable to the point where the game couldn’t even open, so I deleted the folders for everything to start clean. Any other game I’ve done this with has never been an issue…so I didn’t anticipate it being a problem.
I’ve also re-downloaded F4 and the BMS files, but still no joy. There’s zero mention of BMS in my registry that I could find after I started from a clean slate. And, with the files re-downloaded, the registry editor/zip file on this thread doesn’t fix the problem.
-
Ok
So you have the original Falcon 4.0 installed. It doesn’t need to run but BMS needs to see its registry entries.
The “reg clean” can be run from any location, however you may need to have “Administrative rights”, to be honest I’m not 100% on that.
Then which version of the reg clean have you used ? This one ? https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?10640-Reinstalling-Issue-quot-The-registry-entry-quot&p=380550&viewfull=1#post380550
