Station time not met.
-
I’ve been trying out a few missions. So far bombed some SAMs, bombed a factory and this one I just done Serpent1 (TARCAP) I had to shoot some planes to support of Tiger1(BAI) I think. I got 2 and my wingman got 6 and an Average rating. But it still says my task: Failed and Mission failed: Station time was not complete. In the results section it says, The 1st Armored Brigade has taken 2 losses and is not likely to be committed in the near future, largely due to the efforts of you package.
What does that mean?
Did I really fail?
Should I ignore it?
Thanks

Easy, I think we’ve all had that happen on Tarcaps. The AI has some arcane parameters , this has been discussed here previously. For example, did you remain on station for the full briefed time? Did you hit all the steerpoints?
In answer to your question, let me just say that IMHO you didn’t fail and you should ignore it. -
I wouldn’t have hit all the steerpoints and I would have got the timing wrong as well. it actually says TOT 9 mins late.
-
Did you ask AWACS for relief? You must stay on station until they clear you to RTB.
-
Nope, didn’t know I should. Will do next time, thanks

or use all your ordinace and call winchester to awacs and you can then leave anytime at any waypoint.
-
It’s a good idea to try meeting the arbitrary parameters for success and avoid too many of these “moral victories”, since the campaign plays out based on your performance.

You failed on this count as some of the Ground Forces you were tasked to protect were destroyed.
TARCAP: “Target Combat Air Patrol” is flown over or near a strike target in order to protect specialized attack aircraft such as AC-130 gunships from enemy fighters.
Not Shore weather BMS follows this directive strictly, but it is noted in the debrief that “The 1st Armored Brigade has taken 2 losses and is not likely to be committed in the near future, largely due to the efforts of you package.”
We modify the steerpoints and station time on a regular basis. Remember to unlock all the steer points before you start moving them or changing any relevant parameters.

Much like Shadow was getting at my experience with BARCAP/TARCAP kinds of missions is you must stay within a set distance of your two steerpoints that you are patrolling until your time contract is up. The easiest way around that is to adjust the time contract.
For example if your target steerpoints are say steerpoints 4 and 5 and you immediately head say 40 miles north of those two steerpoints while still in the contract time you will fail the mission. Staying within 20 miles of the target steerpoints has worked for me for successful missions.
