MP behind Carrier Grade NAT
-
Hi folks,
I’ve returned flying with BMS after many inactivity years. Now I’m slowing re-learning to fly effectively the F-16 and use the many systems and avionics implemented since 4.34. Now, I would like to fly with a friend of mine that is learning from zero. We are trying to fly in MP just the two of us a simple TE I created for training purpose. Turns out we can’t connect to each other because both of us are behind Carrier Grade NAT, so port forwarding on my router to host a session is useless. Our ISP isn’t going to give us a public IP and changing ISP is not an option right now.
I’m struggling for days to find a solution to host a session, including VPN services such Open VPN (which I’m almost sure I’m unable to configure the right way).
Could something like Hamachi or Tunngle be a solution to our problem?
I would prefer not to use a public server at this stage because of our definitely NOT combat ready status. -
Hi,
after some tests we were able to connect and fly together using Hamachi. Everything goes smooth except we can’t hear each other through IVC in the 3D world.
I’m hosting the game and the IVC server. In 2D we can hear each other via the F keys, but in the cockpit it doesn’t work. Of course we are on the same frequency, but it works as if we were on different servers. The radios are configured the right way and returning in 2D we can hear each other via the F keys. Everything else works the way it’s supposed to work, even Datalink.
I tried to troubleshoot the problem but it seems I can’t find the root cause. Any ideas? -
Why don’t you just use Teamspeak or Discord?

What appears in the IVC server window while in 3D?
Hi Lorik,
I’m going to have some tests putting the IVC server window in a secondary screen and posting here the output. I’ll let you know.To Cloud 9: yes I could, In fact right now we are flying while talking on a VoIP service, but that’s not the point. I believe all of us are here because we want the full experience that only BMS can give, and that includes operating the radios in a realistic way, hence the need of a working IVC. Plus, if it should be working, and works as advertised for all the others, why it shouldn’t work for me?
