Fixing carrier catapult misalignment problems
-
In Elouda’s 1989EM campaign (https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?29461-Korea-EM-1989-Update) the carrier catapult is misaligned. It still works, but you have to taxi between the two catapults to catch it. This was verified on the Vinson, Truman, and Enterprise, although it is assumed that it is present for all carriers. It was also verified under U2 and U3. I have heard that this issue also exists in HD Korea, but I have not verified that myself.
Is there a way that this can be fixed? Is it simply a matter of copying over a working carrier model, or is there more to it than that? If provided with instructions, I would welcome an opportunity to try to fix this for our team’s upcoming campaign. Thanks!

No idea what the cause is in that theater, but I have not seen that in the stock Korea campaigns nor in Balkans.

Stock KTO, ITO and Balkans carriers work fine. The issue occurs in 1989EM and (maybe) HD Korea.

Are the using different carriers. Only a few work correctly.

Just tested these myself and can confirm its an issue on all the carriers. It seems to be a problem with v1.0 of the scenario too.
Not sure what the cause is, would appreciate any thoughts on the matter and possible solutions.
If it turns out the only way to fix it is to rebuild then entire theater from the U3 database then I will do that.

Most probably u r still on previous database version, before u3 or U2.

Looks like it is something in that folder yes - the problem is that its very hard to see exactly what changed between 4.33 baseline and 4.33U3 as I no longer have an install for the baseline version, and thus basically had to manually hunt down things to change (like the S-60, KS-19, etc.) based on patchnotes. I can’t simply overwrite with the new U3 data because a lot of the hardpoint and stores data that has changed is also in there.
At this point it looks like Im going to just have to redo the theater edits based on the U3 database, should only take a few days I hope.
Thanks for the help gentlemen!

database is important for campaigns, specially if a 3d model has functions with objects like the carrier in this case
You can use a own database for each theater, you can try to use your theater database and point the carrier in the right objectBMS - Manual page 232
I think the problem it’s there, simply a “link” is lost.
Cheers
EDIT :
also, I checked your save0 and carrier has not waypoints, that could be the big problem before relations, so add waypoints, (7-8 waypoints are enough)

Thanks for the advice.
As I’ve already started redoing this from the U3 ‘standard’ database, I’ll just go ahead and finish it up since it gives me an opportunity to do things a little more neatly, and also add a few other things I skipped out on last time (since honestly v1.0 was pretty much a ‘quick and dirty’ edit for personal use).
Will make sure to give the CV waypoints this time.

Why would you be giving carriers 7-8 waypoints?? You do know that causes issues?

The issue refers to the carriers PD/PHD data. Some new points were added from U1 to U2 to make all 3 catapults work.
If you know your way around BMS editor, export the objective data from each carrier from the stock Korea and re-import to each carrier objective on your theater install. Save it to the DB and it should be fine, provided you have at least U2 installed.

iirc I had this tip cause without waypoints I could have issues.
I always added waypoints on carriers in last months on my personal theaters and I never had issues. May I know what issues so I will remove them? (just in case)
I think add waypoints is more realistic anyway -
So what is the consensus on waypoints for CV’s? I notice the carrier in the 3rd campaign using the main KTO theater has no waypoints, so should this be used as an example and I should leave mine without?
-
For now, until BMS gets the Naval op working better they should be static. Which requires one waypoint that has a beginning and end in the same X/Y coordinate.

I think add waypoints is more realistic anywayOf course they’re more realistic but there’s issues with exploding on the deck, falling through the deck, running of the end or side of the deck, spawning where the carrier is not….etc., etc.

any chance to have something like : " stop the carrier when you join 3d " >> " restart after takeoff - ramp start time (20 mins) or 30" ,
just an idea
