Can't start Falcon BMS
-
Try running it in Window mode.
To do that, right click on the desktop icon, go to Properties, in the Target box add the -window command to the end.
It will look similar to this: “C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Launcher.exe” -window
Make sure it is outside the quote at the end and there is a space in between the end quote and the dash. Click on Apply then OK.
Also, check to see that the file, dx9display.dsp is still in your User>Config folder too.

Guess what, it worked!!! Never thought of that honestly. Thank you so SO much!!

Nice. Will look around for a solution to WIN8 running in full screen.
It may be possible to run it in full screen if you use 32bit instead of 64bit?
Cheers,

Will try that after my U3 is installed (it’s installing now).
Just got a question, are my PC Specs good for BMS? And are they good enough to use high resolution textures?
Cheers

32 bit doesn’t help. There has to be some “window/full screened” mode out there?

Just found a reddit post claiming that only the menu is in that small window, in-flight it should be full. Will test that.

Yes, that is correct. 3D is full screen. Just the UI’s are in sized down windows.

Thanks. Just tried it, it looks and it is not easy when you’re used to fly passenger planes

Oh yeah, whole different ball of wax!!
Most everything you need to know is in the Docs folder. Don’t plan on learning it overnight. It will keep you busy for quite some time!!
Use the search function to find things here on the forum. If you can’t find it, then ask.
Good Luck

Since yesterday I suddenly have the same issue. Full screen it goes black but I an hear UI sounds like the menu hover clicks when I move around with the cursor. When I try to start it in windowed mode I get the Tommo splash screen but then it just stops and I need to kill the process.
Tried deleting the dx9display.dsp but to no avail.
Also tried disabling several settings in radeon Crimson control but nothing seems to help.EDIT: reverting back to 3 versoins older drivers of Crimson suddenly make it work again. WTF…

basic rule: If it works we don’t mess with it.

With which version you had the issue?
I’m on Crimson 17.7.1 and RX 460 with no problems.
Nikos. -
The latest I could update gave issues. The one before I didn’t have, so I reverted to the first previous version I had available on my backups.
I think it was the 17.7.2 for Win7 64bit R7970 -
@Cloud:
That’s not a crashlog, it would say crash on the end of the timestamp.
Go into your User>Config folder and delete the dx9display.dsp file.
Relaunch BMS, that file will regenerate.
See if that helps.

Thanks Cloud 9!!!
this helped me!!
I started my BMS to do some AAR practice and to my surprise the sim would not start. I started to panic because I knew a new MS Windows 10 update had been done.
I was thinking that maybe MS blocked something within Falcon BMS.
Then I though, let me go to the forums and see if anyone is having same issue.
Your solution worked.
So thank you Cloud 9 and BMS forums.
