@cloud 9 what are those things , basic things that are overlooked? Some more info would be greatly helpful for Guys strangling with the beast for the first time and even guys long time fighters but working blindly some things are not known at all.
At least a small list like one two three like a guidance with the basic stuff. -
Gentlemen, whether it is possible to replace the trees on the palm, in Korea?
-
I’d love to eat F4s for dinner in my MiG21
-
the hard part, really, is modeling the enemy intelligence, modeling the ground engagements and the ROE. modeling the aerial highways and the MIGCAP and MIGBUSH flights in the f4. Modeling the jamming aircraft and the SAM environment.
Vietnam was a ****ing hell hole, symmetrical warfare and an unconventional guerrilla fighter on the ground. Airforce strategy went “ohhhh waaah happund!”…there were good days of 7 splashed 17s and 21s with no losses, but they were few and far…
I’d be interested in playing it…as a SAM operator. vietnam for a pilot sounds like hell.

Interesting idea. SAM-wise i think it can be done. I remember ths SP-FF era vietnaam the sams where preety deadly. U had to fly low and use terrain masking to succeed with your mission. Now that i almost finished the F-4 EJ it wont be difficult to make an early E as well… I hope someone will make it finally this theater.

I wish I knew how to convert my historical and tactical studies of the past 2 decades into something that could be utilized by the community, but I only know very basic computer science, I have the utmost respect for all you artists and coders and thinkers involved with BMS, but all I can really help with is thought tools and organizational.
I’d love to see a Vietnam campaign, as it was a huge failure in USAF predictive understanding, the changes in doctrine and procurement literally, shaped my life 50 years later. From those hard lessons we get to sim f-15’s f-16s and f-18s, instead of 100,000 lb swept wing fighter, bomber, attacker, air superiority death traps, which would of ended in us speaking Russian, petrovia! -
you need a terrain first… ask C9

I did some research on doing a Vietnam Theatre and got stuck trying to get the terrain data into the right format. I was keen on trying to get the right airbases. One of the reasons I think it is hard is that the SEA war, the airbases were far south - I assume to stop any form of OCA strike. Look up where Ubon actually is and it gives you some idea. Often the F-4 would need to A-A refuel on the way there and on the way back. This is the reason by the original F4 campaign was North Korea - short distances to fly, and Flanker 1.5 etc was the Crimea theatre. Something would have to be different for the campaign to be playable I think. Possibly an ultra hard Viet Cong on the door step of Saigon or something.

I think the actual SEA map was scaled down a tad in In Strike fighters for this reason, still took a while on Time acceleration though.
You could park the USN 10 miles off the coast

That’s a good idea Migbuster, but we still have to fly those F-105’s …

You might have a long wait for that……was thinking the idea was 80s or later fiction.

when you talk about doing the airbases right, don’t forget the ghost bases in cambodia

Gentlemen, there is a 3D cockpit A-6E from Free Falcon 5.5. Can it be adapted for the BMS?

It’s Qawa pit. Need somebody covert it into working lod.
Btw vnam fans can try Nordic theater-1965 cam, fly f4 or mig21, The sim experience is close.
