Padlock SA help
-
Hello,
What a great game. I’ve been playing Falcon since the AT version. I have lots of hours in 4 and AF as well. Reference the padlock feature, is there a way to keep orientation while padlocked like with 4 and allied force? There was the small hud and lift vector so you could see where the bandit is in comparison to your plane. I was dogfighting at night and had no sa. Any help would be appreciated. Thank youGun

The vector line has been removed for realism. There are some faint notch arrows on the canopy and the general reflection will have to do. I’m not a big fan of it either but you know grognards. lol

Thanks SiliconMagician for the quick response. Maybe just a little more practice.
Thanks,

The “Situational Awareness” bar is still available to a fashion. Press SHIFT and F3 or F4 (can’t remember which, don’t use it) to activate it.

Hi Malc,
Copy that, Shift F3 on my system. Not quite as good as the old, but with a little practice right? Thank you for the help. I have to say, this community is great. Very quick with the help. There is always someone to jump on the grenade for you. Thanks Malc.

You could use “Glance Forward” or “Glance Backward” - check which key stroke it in in your key file - might help, especially if you are Padlocked on a Mig behind you and in a downward spiral turning fight, if you get that wrong it can hurt !!! The ground can be a very unforgiving place ;0)

Copy that, the ground has a Pk of 100.

Hi Taz and Ironman,
Good call. I used to have those functions on my HOTAS for Falcon AF. But I have run out of buttons for Falcon BMS. Might have to rethink my setup. Thanks for the assist!Gun

I would agree that without TIR or similar, glance forwards, glance backwards in conjunction with the hat switch for view slewing is important. Comfortably being able to use the ol Mark I Eyeball is nice to have, making other administrative tasks a bit easier.
