Loading dunc_dx into HOTAS Cougar…. Error 1000 - Help needed -
-
Hi there guys,
one of these days again. You see a nice step by step guide to get a profile into your HOTAS Cougar and that’s it! Make some edits in the cfg and you are ready to go!
When I load up both dunc_dx.tmj and dunc_dx.tmm into foxy and try to compile and load it into the Cougar…. I get an error. The funny part is: I’m the only dude in the internet-world mentioning this error. What the hell is wrong?!
File: Dunc_DX.tmj
Line: 0
Error: ERROR 1000: Could not open Input file G:\MicroProse\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\TM HOTAS Cougar\Dunc_DX.tmj.TMJAnd below that… lots of texts. It already reports an error in line 0… everywhere else people are reporting no Problems. What have I ran into?
I’m able to download all the other profiles which I own into stick without any problems.I start feeling stupid, emberassing! I can’t figure that crap out!
Please assist…
Greetings,
Cabal -
Does it work if you copy and paste the files in your :\Program Files (x86)\HOTAS\Files (or whatever you’ve called it) folder and open them from there?

It did the job…… thank you Darkman! Damn… I was giving up on retraining myself again after 2 years (today!).
The next beer is on me!EDIT: BUT… there is another situation. Download to Cougar was ok. I fired up Falcon, went to the settings and got everything ready to go. But… after loading the dunc_dx key file in Falcon… all my buttons are not correctly recognized. I thought it has something to do with Emulation… but nothing shows the correct pressed button.
EDIT 2: Sorted the devices within a Textfile. Now it works!

Hi pilots!
I’m quite new to this Forum and actually i’m in the process of learning falcon bms as far as my time allow me to. I moved from win8.1 on a gaming notebook to a new gaming desktop with win10 and thats where my problem began. It did the job…… thank you Darkman! Damn… I was giving up on retraining myself again after 2 years (today!).

Thats exactly what my problem is. In general my cougar is working fine under win10. But when it comes to bms i can’t assign a keyfile to it- the buttons remain uassigned. I could do it manually but to be honest - i’m tooo lazy
EDIT 2: Sorted the devices within a Textfile. Now it works!
Could you ore someone else explain this a little more in detail. Is this behaviour caused by to many devices connected to the machine and the os gets confused? I mean, yes. My usb ports are quite occupied and maybe thats what needs to be treated.
Thanks alot in advance guys and best regards to all!

PS: I hope so deeply my english is good enough for you to help me here!!!

Hi there dear Pilots.
I’m quite new to this forum and to the intense bms universe. So as far as my time allows me to do so, i wanna learn whats necessary. I also wouldnt call myself a technical genius but i can help myself quite well if i do spend some time on a problem. But….
Just weeks ago i moved from a gaming notebook with win8.1 to a gaming desktop with win10 and my problem began. My cougar works just fine under win10. So thats not my problem.EDIT: But… after loading the dunc_dx key file in Falcon… all my buttons are not correctly recognized. I thought it has something to do with Emulation… but nothing shows the correct pressed button.
EDIT 2: Sorted the devices within a Textfile. Now it works!Thats exactly what my problem was and what i did to solve this. I backed up the “devicelisting.txt” in the bms config folder. Then i deleted some entries until my HOTAS Cougar was the only one left in that file. Back into bms the keyfile successfully assigned all the relevant functions to my HOTAS. In the sim now everything works fine - keyboard, mouse, hotas etc.
My question now is, can someone explain, what this “devicelisting.txt” thing is used for and how it is generated. I don’t get it: If it lists all the input devices for bms, then why was it possible to delete the entry for my mouse and my keyboard and such but still have them functional in BMS? Not to forget, that my cougar is working like a charm now.
Some explaining answers from some skilled ones will be very welcome.
Thanks in advance guys and best regards,
LunarO
PS: Please bear in mind, that english is not my native language since i’m from germany. So i hope, my explanation is well written for everyone

Can you tell us how you sorted them and what did the trick…not fully understanding your solution. Thx

Please refer to page 49 & 50 of the BMS-Manual (in your \Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals folder).
That will explain what happens and how to fix it.

Thanks for the specific page references! Also, would you happen to know where I can get/find CCP software for the Cougar?i purchased a used one but had no software discs with it.

The manufacturer’s website: https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/product/hotascougar-en/
Package drivers - Vista RC2 (64bit) is what you want.

Outstanding! Thank you

THANK YOU FOR THE FIX!
New user to BMS. Years since I had pulled out my Cougar.
I checked the 4.34 BMS manual and couldn’t find the answer around the 49-50 pages on why I received this compile error of the Cougar_DX.tmj / .tmm files had to be in the “C:\Program Files (x86)\HOTAS\Files”
(Although I suspect it has something to do with Foxy reading ‘.tmj.tmj’ extensions.Anyone have any clarification?
