HARM RUK mode

So why there is “A” able to be selected in HAS threat table when this kind of radar won’t even pop up on HAD screen?
It would be stupid not to have MADDOG type mode on a HARM and SEAD platform. Even if the missile is blessed with GPS guidance.
Some guy some time ago said on forum that some F-16s have LOR mode which stands for launch off RWR. Not sure if thats true.
However i can confirm that real Carapace is able to create waypoints that looks like PPTs. You can use them to launch HARM on them as they are just waypoints. Information is taken from (unclassified) MLU update manual.
And many SAMs are faster than HARM, so they gonna nail you before HARM reaches the target.

Different kind of A? Search radar supporting fixed-AAA as opposed to the gun dish system on a ZSU-23-4? Maybe BMS didn’t update the HAS threat tables along with their changes to the more used modes? I know for a fact one of the patches since 4.32 made some previously HARM-able emitters not HARM-able. I distinctly remembering that surprising and biting me in the butt the very mission after I patched and discovered it the hard way.
I’ve heard of F-18s having that. Maybe it was developed for 16s as well.

Maybe the “A” will work on the old firecan. However, if modeled correct, the KS17 or KS19 does have PK below 19k feet in clear sky using optic sights iirc.

If flying toward the Sam while entering a stpt you have look at closure speed. Shot off bore, beam. get in the weeds, find some cover. Sometimes all you do is buy extra time. And you never know maybe something happen in your favor.

My way is to launch them while being slightly out of range (i mean SAM range). This ensures they gonna paint you with radar but your butt gonna be safe

For older sams, there is no fear. I always wait till they start shooting then launch my own harm. You only have 2 missiles, so every one gotta count. After you shoot, start dancing with the sams. 2, 3 and 5 are not that hard to dance with. You only need deal with the first 1-2 missiles then your harm should have put the radar out. Also in some campaigns, sam batteries are co-mingled with some AAA. So when you use HAD, you might accidentally lock onto active AAA instead of the Sam you want to eliminate. I always zoom in on HAD to make sure the correct one is selected. For more advanced sams like SA10, I always do high alt, long range loft shot. As soon as I saw it on RWR, I turn tail and run. The only issue I have is those short range ambush type of sams. In those cases, I really wish to have something similar to maddog shot.

A few radars were changed to be untargetable by HARM. It’s more than just AAA. One of the higher number (17? 19?) SAMs is as well. This is to reflect that some radars are outside of the frequency range the missile can track. If HAD can select it and shoot out a missile but the missile can’t actually home on it that should probably be changed.
I can hit both SA-17 and SA-19 with HARMs, done both in Israel and Nordic recently

Which mode you used? Was it HAD, HAS or POS?

SA-17/19 with HAD

I’ll look into that.

I discovered an extremely fast and easy way to use the RUK mode.
One MFD on WPN page, the other MFD on FCR.
Point nose to direction of the target.
Hit Snowplow twice. The “fall line” is now centered on your nose. Fire.
You can also slew the line around using the FCR/HUD. The harm will track toward the point on the FCR, not the selected steerpoint.
I don’t know if this is the real way to do it, but it is the fastest in BMS.
