Funny AAR experience
-
I just loaded up SimShaker again and was eager to test the connect/disconnect effects for air-to-air refuelling. I got to the tanker, connected, then pressed the MSL STEP switch to disconnect. I noticed that the tanker director lights went out… and stayed out. I tried adjusting my position under the tanker, I tried flying out beyond the boom and then coming in again, nothing. The director lights stayed out no matter what. I had to call “ready to take fuel” to reset things, at which point I was cleared to pre-contact again, had to fly to that position, then fly into contact position. By this point, the tanker was in a turn, connected, stayed on until he finished his turn. I then slowed down enough to be out of boom range, got disconnected, and between the extreme extension of the boom and the pre-contact position, I saw the red “F” director light come on. Flew into contact position, got connected.
I tried this for a few more times… flying outside of the boom limits, I would get a disconnect but the director lights stay on and I get re-connected as soon as I’m in position. Not the case if I disconnect via the MSL STEP.
Am I doing something wrong or is this expected behavior?

AFAIK this is the intended behavior. Manual disconnect usually leads to the end of a fuel session, so you have to re-request fuel to get fuel again. I believe this behavior has been around since before BMS even.
