Limitation For AB
-
Hi,
How long an F-16C50/52 can engage it’s afterburners indepentedly of fuel? Or, is there any limitation for AB IRL and BMS?
Thanks.

There is a limit per flight to avoid excessive wear of the nozzle materials, IIRC, but you will ran out of fuel way before that

Limits of external tank transfer rate are 18,000 pph center and 30,000 pph wings. Severe internal fuel depletion might break the siphoning action (down to 6000 pph pumps) and extreme depletion can cause flameout with external fuel remaining. “Trapped fuel” warning is inhibited above 18,000 pph to avoid false positive warnings.

With the fuel qty selector in norm, would you be able to see on the fuel indicator that you are about to deplete the internal fuel?

Yes, as far as I know all internal and external fuel indications would be correct in any qty selection position. The internal needles would decrease prior to the externals being empty.
