SimShaker for DCS World and Falcon BMS support thread
-
I have spent the summer doing bicycle tours; come home to find that there is a new SimShaker software for BMS?!!!
Downloaded it….tried it…bought it…money well spent. This is AWESOME! Much improved! Thanks Andre!

Woops, I might have spoke too soon….
After activating Simshaker Wings and restarting my PC I can no longer choose an audio device. The section to do so is greyed out as well as the check box for output to bass shakers. No the correct device is not being used by any other software and it doesn’t show any of the sound devices that I have (two HDMI devices, onboard sound, PCI-e device, etc). Several reboots have not helped.

Hi David,
that’s normal, since bass-shaker support is an option.
You’ve already paid for the Sound Module and I can replace your Sound Module license with SimShaker - Wings up to 6 bass-shakers support option license, if you use the Sound Module with BMS only.
If you would like to use the Sound Module with other sim titles supported in SimShaker for Aviators, please, buy that SimShaker - Wings option as well. -
Hi guys,
I’d like to ask those who are interested in BETA version of SimShaker - Wings to make a fresh install of the BETA version with this new installer.
I’ve tried to touch BMS part as little as possible, but added support for War Thunder Aviation.
You can find more information in my blog following by this link https://dreamsimteam.blogspot.ru/2017/08/simshaker-wings-beta-version-14.htmlThank you for using SimShaker - Wings!

This makes no sense, sorry. I do have the sound module but that is not part of this issue. I am talking only about Simshaker Wings. Without simshaker DCS-BMS loaded, nor SSA loaded I am having this issue. Should I uninstall the sound module to get SSW to work? Sound module should not be loaded anyway or is it resident at all times in memory?
My issue is that without authorizing SSW it works great. Once I authorize it with my code I cannot access the audio source or bass shaker portion of SSW (see the attached photo above). I uninstalled and reinstalled twice to verify this (and lost three authorizations). As far as I understand, this issue should have nothing to do with previous/other versions of SimShaker.

Hi Andre! Not sure if I asked before, but can the BETA and the RELEASE versions exist in the same PC? Or do we have to pick one? This may be really tricky especially with your “special” installer
Thanks!

After reading about the latest update….you mean that to use ANY bass shakers at all I have to purchase, at an additional charge, the 6 bass shakers? I had thought that SSW included support for two channels (2 shakers)?! Even more confused now…
EDIT: Still slightly confused but that is an ongoing issue in my life
I read further back and see that I had SS-Wheels confused with SSW. Wheels does indeed give access to 2 channels. No, I definitely want to keep the sound module as I use it with SSA for DCS.

Hi -Ice,
that would be a problem with the old beta, since it shared the same assembly name with the released version.
With the new beta, which I’m asking to use, there should not be any problems. Both versions keep share settings files and activation. This may be really tricky especially with your “special” installer
Actually, there is nothing very special there. That’s an embedded method of software deployment offered by Microsoft for every developer, using Microsoft Visual Studio tool.
They’ve tried to make software installation more secure for the users, avoiding touching PC sensitive areas such as registry or Programs Files folder. -
Thanks for confirming that, Andre!

Having the executable buried and hard to find does make it hard to add it as an exception in firewalls and virus detection software.

I agree. More over, the location will be changed by the every update.
As a good workaround you can add exception by the process name (= file name), not the full path. Please see the picture attached.
Windows firewall, for example, promts to add exception rules automatically, nothing to do but click OK button. -

When you install an app from Android, Apple of Windows store, isn’t that the same?

I don’t install any “apps” from Android or Apple now, but even the Android “backup” program (backup my phone settings) allowed me to choose my install location. Even iTunes allowed me to pick my install location. Any Windows program I install I know exactly where it goes, except for stuff like DirectX or C++ or Visual Studio, etc. but that doesn’t bother me because they’re operating-system stuff anyway and not programs I directly interact with.

Hmmm… I’m trying to find that entry where I can set when the seat vibrations start when pulling Gs… but I can’t find it (Release version, not beta). Am I blind or has Andre taken it out?

DUH!! Hehehe… thanks Andre!

Due to the latest news about division of products of SSA and SSWings I have updated and have divided user’s guides. Can to somebody it is useful. SimShaker for Aviators & SimShaker - Wings User Manual+Руководство пользователя

I recently installed SimShaker for Aviators and then purchased a license for the Sound Modules part to work (I have Buttkicker Gamer2). Activation worked well, I’ve allowed the program and all it’s components past the Windows 10 Firewall, but…
When I run the application, and then run BMS (or run BMS and then start SimShaker Aviator) a window keeps popping up and then closing. It pulls focus from the active window (BMS) and makes it impossible for me to use my PC as this occurs every 3-7 seconds.
Here is an image of the window that pops up and then closes- it’s process is called SimShaker BMS SM Reader
and when I go to investigate this application in the AppData/Local/Apps/2.0/etc… folder, Windows Explorer locks up - I am unable to right click this application to verify it is unblocked or otherwise allowed to function.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
*probably best to note here that I did not understand the different versions of this program and had SimShaker Wings installed as well when I applied my Activation key to SimShaker Aviators. I have read about the different versions, but came out of it still confused on the various modules and softwares here. If you recall, I posted up an issue with Windows 10 blocking the installation which is what prompted me to try to install one of the other SimShaker applications. Thanks to Ice, I have found a way to unblock the software during installation on Win10, but now I have the above named issue. Before I assume to uninstall all SimShaker softwares and re-install from scratch, I wanted to see if there is something simple I am missing here. Thank you again!
- it’s process is called SimShaker BMS SM Reader

Actually SimShaker software family consists of:
1)SimShaker for Aviators by f4l0 (DCS World, FSX, P3D, X-Plane11 supported) with Sound Module addon,2)SimShaker - Wheels (iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Automobilista, rFactor 2, DiRT Rally, Project CARS, Project CARS2, ETS2, ATS, DiRT 4 and RRRE supported)
3)SimShaker - Wings (Falcon BMS and War Thunder supported)
Doesn’t look hard for understanding.
If you already have SimShaker - Wings, just un-check Falcon BMS support at Special Options tab of SimShaker for Aviators main window to prevent SimShaker BMS SM Reader from being started at all.

This was a BMS Sound Module (SM?) as far as I understand, in order for this program to not be a “demo”. If that is the case, and if I am preventing SimShaker BMS SM Reader from being started, why did I bother to get it just now?
Now I see that according to what you wrote, I need SimShaker Wings? Or is this what I was supposed to get instead of SimShaker for Aviators?
EDIT: I really did not understand this concept, and I did a fair bit of research I thought. It was when I went through this entire thread page by page, around page 58 I found posts describing this division in a break-down fashion. I do understand now, though I think a little confusion is understandable for newcomers such as myself…
