BMS input from a AKAI APC40 MIDI controller?
-
I have a nice large button surface i would like to try to use to press controls…
But i do not know how to get the APC to talk to BMS… Any ideas? -
So…as I understand MIDI, it translates this device’s key presses into device specific note numbers/sequences which are read from a Library- so what you would need is a piece of interface software that would translate it’s note number pallet into keyboard keystrokes that BMS can use…I don’t know if such exists, but I do think I recall reading of people re-purposing MIDI controllers for such. So I wouldn’t give up, but I’d expect to do some heavy research. And maybe some coding?..there may be something out there that will translate note numbers to keyboard keys…maybe?

I wrote something similar a while ago in python to convert input data coming from an android tablet over the network into keypresses for BMS (more specifically Komurcu’s excellent MFD / DED client).
It was rather simple, let me know if you’re interested and I will send you the source. All the best,
Uwe

APC to “talk” with BMS!!??
That’s exactly where you are wrong… You have to “play” to BMS
And then it dance.
