Microstick re-orientation
-
I was wondering if anyone has re-oriented their microstick to give exact up down left right controls for cursor slew and if so any links or guides on hiw to achieve this?

I don’t think this is strictly possible with a Cougar TQS because the handle moves in a circular arc and the axes are always going to be rotating wrt the axle. The only time all is oriented as you wish is at max throttle.
…with time, you get used to it.

While Im not sure what you mean by exact up down left right controls… if you mean rotating the axes to match the physical axes, that would be possible using TARGET, I think. It would destroy your muscle memory, though.
I dont think Foxy has the ability to rotate axes, but if it does that would work too.

One of the things I do with ControllerMate on my Mac setup is to assign arrow keys to my Cursor Controller. I do this by determining which quadrant of the Lissajous the Mouse Stick is in and then sending the appropriate arrow key command(s). By doing this and properly setting the dead zone for the Mouse Stick I have zero cursor drift/error and the movement is smooth and natural.
I don’t do any “roll compensation” of the Mouse Stick for the position of the throttle…but I may be getting that because of doing this. Or I may just have gotten used to the way this all works…which is probably more likely. I’ll have to think about this…if the arrow keys are always oriented to the display absolutely, then this approach may actually do the job.
I have suspicions this can also be accomplished using Foxy, but I haven’t tried it as I’m not planning to use the Cougar controller PCB in my cockpit build and thus will probably never use/need Foxy - I have a TUSBA R2 and plan to use it to do my throttle installation as a stand alone USB input device. It does what it does…and does it nicely.
