The second mission with multiple agm-84 did the trick.
I counted 13 ‘Bruiser’ calls, so it was a massive attack. -

When the carrier was opperative, the SAM of its defence is very lethal.
The problem is that there is no warning on the RWR and of missile inbound, you just get hit suddenly and in a matter of seconds the aircraft is exploded. Both times i was hit i managed to eject safelly, i reacted fast.
Thats why i focused on the FXXXXing carrier, it made me madddd -
If youre looking to get up close and personal. Frag a flight of growlers just on the edge of the ship’s engagement zone. Should make it easier to sneak in at a low alt <100 ft. Once you get in close enough you WILL get fired on! However you should have speed on your side which if done properly you can out manuever the AD easily because they are just starting to climb for target acquisition. Watch for smoke trails and manuever accordingly. Then unleash your 65Ds in vis mode and escape the same way you came in. And watch you back on the egress.

Balkans Campaign BOP Day 4
Kuznetsov Carrier Group arrives late in Day 3. Not going for him during dark of night.
Single F-16CM-50, multiple sorties, ultra low altitude attack.
Palese Airport is my base, target is 100 miles east.
Not going to carry extra fuel. Going to put down at Casale Airbase. AGM 65G load out.Attack on Kuznetsov begins 06:53 Day 4
06:53 mission 1 flying to the east in the morning made targeting difficult. Almost blind and HUD mostly washed out. Took 4 65G’s but should have only loaded 2. Got 2 off, Targeted Kirov, got one hit and mistakenly 1 hit on Kuznetsov. Played it safe and RTB.
07:30 mission 2 Loaded 2 Mavs but aborted mission halfway to target, due to too much enemy air activity.
08:11 mission 3 Targeted the Kirov and got the 2 hits. Loaded only 2 Mav’s out of deserved respect for the Kirov. You can not be fiddling with slewing 4 mav’s going for him. Got 2 off and got OUT.
08:44 mission 4 Targeted the Kuznetzov and got 4 hits. The Group is in real trouble at this point. Basically already beaten.
09:27 mission 5 Loaded 4 65 G’s and got 2 hits on a Sovremenny, and 2 hits on another Sovremenny.
10:09 mission 6 Loaded 4 65 G’s and got 2 hits each on the last 2 Sovremennys.RTB 10:41 and Carrier is gone from 3d map and OOB.
The TE training paid off. It was necessary to time entry into the fight carefully. Twice I modified flight path to avoid enemy air, and once just had to abort a mission.
A few sams were launched, but was not hit.
The 33’s were in the area until the Kuznetsov was sunk.It sure is a lot of fun to take on this challenge. It would really be fun with several human pilots all going in low at the same time. Man would that be a hoot

Command Modern Air/Naval Operations is a lot better suited to look at these questions. While you can’t occupy a plane in first-person like you can in BMS, the damage, sensor, and weapons modelling is far superior to BMS for TASMO operations. Taking on a carrier battle group is a very daunting task. You face a multilayer SAM threat, hostile aircraft, and then any launched weapons face a fierce missile and CIWS screen. Mavericks have inadequate range, have no capability to avoid defensive fire, and the warheads are a joke for capital ships. You really have to bring Harpoons. Here’s an after-action from some scenarios I ran a few years ago trying to just take down the Kirov alone. It took 14 ships of F-16s. I expect it would take at least a squadron of F-16s to take out a full carrier battle group. Here’s a link to the CMANO scenarios if anyone is interested:

For the first I ran a 4-ship armed with AGM-65Gs (Command only models real-world loadouts, so each aircraft only had 2 AGMs). The Kirov has some pretty fierce SAMs, but the F-16s piloted by Ace-level BMS-grade pilots defeated them. The Mavericks weren’t so lucky. Despite being quite small, the SAMs were able to successfully destroy most of them. The one that got through caused only (very) minor damage. I then ran a 4-ship armed with Harpoons. These did much better and the F-16’s could launch from stand-off range and turn and run away from the SAMs. However, with 4 shooters, you only get 8 missiles. These were all destroyed either by the SAMs or the CIWS. I finally ran a 12 ship armed with Harpoons with a second 2 ship for targeting (the range of the missile is about 2x the F-16’s detection range). This worked and several missiles got through. I can post some screen-caps if anyone’s interested.
CMANO is a great high-level sim for anyone who loved Harpoon.

rabbit’s right, realistically speaking you won’t actually use AGM-65(anything) to target a surface combatant. i doubt they will have any trouble zapping such a slow moving missile, or you for that matter.
even harpoons are probably going to have trouble. it’s an old missile. unless you have a pretty decent sized strike package it might be easier to use a sub, or just to ignore it (i mean, what’s it going to do anyway?)

First, if u destroy the carrier, the enemy air power is degraded.
Second, becuase the carrier group AD is covering 50nm~ radius and it is stationed near 3 air bases on the coast line (on balkan), it making those AB attacks complicated. -
realistically speaking you can’t destroy the carrier & escorts- unless you use massive strike packages of hornets or B-52G.
a small degradation in your OCA ability is not a problem strategically. as soon as their planes leave the ground they are subject to instant fiery death and even if they hug the carrier and are not- they cannot project power in any reasonable fashion and so are effectively worthless.
