Quick question regarding your latest video! The PB mode! Why would you use this over the HAD mode? Fair enough you can pre-plot the location, however you wouldn’t get any indication of whether or not the radar is actively emitting? As opposed to the HAD mode you can actually see if it’s active or not. The only reason i could think of would be becouse from my experience most of the time the radar doesn’t pop up on your HAD untill you are close enough, or shooting at you
Thanks for another video!

The sensor head is EXTREMELY sensitive on the HARM when using PB (it basically comes up like a hellfire and then scans in a 20 degree FOV on the target area), meaning it has the highest PK if you know where the radar is.
Also, during combat you don’t want to mess around with the HAD, especially on a strike. You want to be on and off the target in 30 seconds or less. The HAD is good for interdiction but PB is great for pre-briefed strikes.
Also keep in mind that you don’t always have the HAD, for whatever reason you may not load the HTS. The POS WPN mode is always available from the HARM.

Ok, thanks for the answer! I just did a PB strike where i had two SA-3 radars located pre-flight. Was well within range, both missed when looking at the de-briefing screen. Do’h!

I did the training mission, fired at the 4 pre-planned SAMs within very short period of time, all right below the maximum range, all hit.

Weird how mine missed then lol. I don’t “trust” the PB mode as i can’t actually see if the target i’m hitting is emitting. Both my 88’s missed most likely becouse it wasn’t active.

I am not sure about the actual mechanization of that, but my impression was that in PB the position of SAM is very well known (geographically) and the HARM is guided mostly (at least majority of the flight) by that. Not sure about that though, could test it with a non-emitting SAM, I guess.

Quick question! The “Fire-Can” radar system, what number / letter is this on the TBL page? Google failed on me! Perhaps it’s not there since it’s not a SAM related radar? Would it if so be the “C”?

it’s an A , as in artillery.
you can see and hear RWR icons and sounds of equipment right from within falcon’s tacref, as well as get detailed info on them via wdp.

Thank you very much! Going through each system now and taking notes! ^.^

get used to them but always remember, depending in their interest in you, you’ll hear most of those sounds sometimes briefly and sometimes not so briefly. in short, their radar mode & your rwr capability will have an affect over how they are produced within your headset in the cockpit.

Thank you very much!
