Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments)
-
Hello, gentlemen, and very nice job to the author of the Alternative Launcher program! However it doesn’t seem to remember the key mappings I have set previously through it, i.e. when I assign keys to a particular function, close the launcher and then open it again, the key mappings are as they were before the change. Do you have a solution for this problem?
-
Thanks.
You have to launch BMS to save keyboard mapping.
In next version, it will be saved without launching BMS. -
You have to launch BMS to save keyboard mapping.
I don’t quote understand. You mean I have to launch BMS before or after I change the mappings in Alt Launcher?
-
OK, I think I get it now, I had to startup BMS after I was done editing the key mappings. Thanks, @chihirobelmo.

Hello, I installed as you have stated but when I click on the launcher of BMS it says App found BMS- FULL.key broken (/n) would you like to restore it to the default. If I press ok the same pop up message appears and I can’t launch the game. Any solutions?
-
Can you confirm BMS - FULL.key in C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\Key Files & Input is the original one?
If it isn’t, try overwrite them with this one.

Cheers mate, fixed it thank you so much!!
-
Can I actually import an old keyfile into a fresh install?
Or do I have to rebind all the buttons and axis again?
-
If you mean an old key file that of 4.32, No.
If from 4.33, as long as every line is in the correct format. You can. -
Jup, it is a recent keyfile.
So far, I tried just to copy and paste the file, but the bindings were not showing up in the launcher itself.
Maybe I have to use the “launch without any setup override” function for this?
-
That might be a glitch. Can you upload xml’s in your User/Config?
-
What do you mean by uploading xml’s in my config folder?
-
There is the setting files for your joystick.
ex: Setup.v100.Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {1ACA3150-718F-11E7-8001-444553540000}.xml or somethings like that
also don’t forget DeviceSorting.txt

Quick question, maybe with a quick answer. Can I bypass with that launcher the 32 button limitation? I have an x65f stick and the buttons higher than number 32 are not recognized.
-
Nevermind about the buttons. I have tested the launcher for some days now. Its awesome. Thanks a lot for that. Just one question. Do you plan to implement a “set afterburner” feature like in the Falcon controler setup?
-
I made my old BMS Full.key work by just overwriting the existing one and selecting “Launch without any setup override”
Yesterday, however, I got an error where it prompted me to overwrite the existing one.
Somehow, the BMS Launcher thought that there was an error in the file.Since I now want to switch to the windowed mode, the launcher refuses to even start the game when I check the “windowed” box.
I would love if those two bugs could be resolved in the future. I mean, apart from using a target script, BMS controls are still a PITA to set up.
Is this a known bug?
Thank you very much in advance
-
It is already implemented. Try SET AB in Throttle Assign Window.
Can you upload your BMS - FULL.key?
Also, what happens if you “unchecked” windowed box?
-
Thanks so much, I found the set AB now. Your launcher is awesome. Just one little thing I can’t get to work. I use f4bmsserver 1.4 to extract the MFDs on two tablets. The tablets show the MFDs and they update normally while flying but I cant press any buttons on the tablets screen. For f4bmsserver I use the BMS - Full.key your launcher creates. If I use the regular launcher the BMS - Full.key doesn’t work any more either. But if I use one of the old keyfiles I did with keyfile editor alpha I can finally press buttons on my tablets, but only if I use the regular launcher not yours. Any idea?
-
hmmm……
really not sure how f4bmsserver works…
Do tablets output DirectInput(DX buttons input) or KeyBoard Emulation? -
The tablet does send keyboard strokes. The keys which are in the keyfile you put into f4bmsserver. But I haven’t changed them in my keyfile I created with keyfile editor alpha and they are the exact same as the BMS - Full.key has in it created by your launcher.
EDIT: I just tried to change the button for OSB1 in my keyfile to lets say “B”. Then I put the keyfile into f4bmsserver. Started BMS via normal launcher. If I have notepad open, you see that the tablet starts sending “B” keystrokes if I press OSB1. So apparently when BMS is started with your launcher it just does not recognize the keystrokes sent from the tablets any more.
