Aegean theater v2.x - BMS 4.33
-
Hello there my dear friend.
Let me help you for the specific TACAN approach to RWY 26 of Nea Anchialos airbase.
From the plan view:
So, first of all IAF Fix is on ANL (TACAN of Nea Anchialos) R-153 at 10 DME.
- About outbound depends of your arrival here. Means if you are approaching from North sector, then you will cross ANL TACAN and follow outbound on R-153 until 10 DME. But if you are approaching from South, then normally you should intercept the ANL R-153 and then have an inbound course until reach 10 DME. Then a little overshoot and turn to be outbound in order to cross the IAF and start the final approach.
- Left turns goes for holding I suppose. Yes, holding needs ONLY left turns as the chart shows. Holding legs are from ANL 8 to 12 DME.
- Should IAF be on inbound track? Well this depends of the procedure itself. Since this specific procedure wants you to start at ANL R-153/10 DME and then with a left turn to join the ANL 12 DME arc and then…, it is a matter of approaching it (IAF) in order to say if you are inbound or outbound for IAF. From real world arrival procedures guide you directly to the IAF. If there is no arrival chart, then local ATC takes over and guides you.
IF you are asking if IAF should be on the outer holding leg, then it is not correct this. Always should be and defined over a R (radial) on a specific DME from NavAid. - Last yes, the side of holding track is perfect like in the real procedure. By the way, all the procedure is super close to the real one ;).
I hope to enjoy it. If you need any more help/clarification I’m here. But please let’s continue this (if needed) to the proper thread of Aegean charts here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?8426-Aegean-Theatre-IAP-charts

Hi Nikos,
Are the departure and arrival tracks available to over lay on Tacview as they are in Korea?
Hello my friend.
Well can you please be a little more specific?
What needs to be done for this?
Nikos. -
as in Korea - you can track you Approach/Departure as a learning aid to ensure you are following the chart correctly and ILS glide path … it does work well in Korea …. good feed back for those learning or teaching

Well then it should be exactly the same method.
Whatever you do to set as a “layer” the charts of Korea, make the same for Aegean theater. How do you select Aegean terrain and object data base to show up in Tacview ?
I don’t have the program in order to tell you.
So be sure that you have this beta version (1.7.3 beta 1) or wait for the stable new one, and check the FAQ at the site or ask “Vyrtuoz”.Nikos.

Nikos.
see clarification above …
-
sorted the part of the world the ACMI is projected onto - newby mistake - XML files for AB’s in Aegean would be nice ;0)

With a good attention to the Enroute charts as also caution at the procedure, now it is possible to land night on airstrips in Aegean theater.
Below I chosen Alexandros Papadiamandis airstrip for a night approach:Nikos.
-
Night approaches and landings scare me to death… Good job, Nikos, you’ve made me want to try again, and on the airstrip you mentioned

Well my dear friend, good examples are:
- Alexandros Papadiamandis at both RWY’s 18 & 36.
- Leros at both RWY’s 18 & 36.
- Yalova at RWY 18.
- Milos at RWY 27.
- Omiros at RWY 36.
Give them a try, you will like it :p.
