Make Maverick look straight ahead again
-
If a Maverick view has been slewed to look somewhere off boresight in WPN, is there a way to reset the view and make it look straight ahead (boresight) again?
-
In PRE mode no.
In BORE / VIS, TMS AFT or cancel AG mode momentarily and select AG again ( DGFT switch to MSL OVRD or AGFT and back to center) -
Any chance of fixing this in the next release so you can command return to slave correctly?

Cage and then un-Cage MAV…it should return to Slave once un-Caged, if you have a designation.

You cannot cage uncage the BMS AGM-65 missile, nor can you cage/ uncage the real one.
If you throwing in real life data, your not helping the user. He is asking of how to do a specific function in BMSThe AGM 65 uncage function is not modelled in BMS. Only the dome cover blow is.
In RL,the uncage switch is pressed to uncage (activate) the missile. The first depression blows the dome cover (with the master arm switch in MASTER ARM) and provides video to the MFD. This switch is only active during the 3-minute SMS time-in period should the pilot deem it necessary to override the timer. This is not normally done and could damage the missile. It has no other function in Maverick employment. -
Granted, but the real one is capable of commanding return to search, and it would be nice to see this in BMS.

yeah, there is always a chance.

When I was fooling around with them on Harriers one simply caged them. But that may also be an F vs G thing…but I’d be surprised.

You know, I don’t think I’ve seen the 65 dome covers. Does anyone have a pic?

As I mentioned 'the AGM 65 uncage function is not modelled in BMS. Only the dome cover blow is. However, I should add the the throttle uncage switch commands needed to blow the dome cover for each missile to produce video image are not accurate for the AGM-65D
In RL, after the 3 minute - NOT TIMED OUT is blanked, the missile uncage and activation are automatic, video is produced, and if the MASTER ARM switch is in ARM , the dome cover is shattered on the priority missile of each station. On a LAU-88A/A, the next priority missile is also activated but the dome cover is retained until the first missile is launched, The LAU-88A/A automatically blows the dome cover for the next missile on that launcher.
The LAU-117/A launchers and the AGM65G are another story, but we have go that one down quite accurately.

TMS AFT - Doesn’t do anything
cancel AG mode momentarily and select AG again - Ok, works. Have to set SOI to WPN again though. Thanks

Yup to all that…and I’ve only ever operated them in RL from LAU-117s, so that’s what I know. Still…never seen any AGM-65 series loaded with dome covers on (and maybe that’s why)…but I’ve been a USN/USMC operator; and typically I’ve noted them kept them caged unless nose to target - and on platforms I’m used to Master Arm isn’t required for video…just station selection and time in, but as also stated I suppose that can vary from platform to platform. As stated MMV for other operators.

ARM is not required for video, but it is required to blow the dome cover.
As for not seeing AGM-65s with dome covers, it is a common practice to have them removed if a single missile is loaded per station.
LAU-117s can carry only a single missile so no dome cover needed. We model this in BMS. There is no need to blow the dome cover for the AGM-65G simply because there isn’t one. -
