NTO Polar Vortex V2
-
Nice. I’d like to use this for big UOAF events so will have to get 20-30 people to install it, that would be much easier.
Which campaign do you guys recommend? Which works best, which is hardest, etc.? -
I will try to have an installer ready asap. Buran should be the hardest.

Hello there,
Worked all day on the UI map to improve the previous shown map.
I also changed color a bit to have better contrast with flight plan.
Here are some screens:Cheers Obi1

Well done Obi my friend!
Nikos. -
just my 2c,
better tune down the brightness of map, and increase the saturation of colors.BTW nation border could use wider, or darker line.
-
I already did edited the coloring to get a more darker, greenish look.
About the nation borders, not sure if you mean in the right lower area where it stops?
Because I can clearly see the dark lines making for the borders?Maybe its an issue with screenshots and zoom factor. In game it looks better and even more clear and darker.
Anyway this was more of a test to see how it would look and if it will be usable.
There is even work on another map by Luke777, that will look very different from this one, we will have to wait and see.Cheers Obi1

Luke, super simple fix to make movies play again: (in the new version you just gave me)
in the theater definition file PolarVortex.tdf
bad
# movies moviedir Add-On NTO Polar Vortex\Movies
should be
# movies moviedir Add-On NTO Polar Vortex
the movies folder is implied

btw, if the videos still don’t work for people… it’s because you are missing the codec. Also a simple fix.
Hi there.
Well you need to install the latest ffdshow codec in order to can see the campaign videos.
BMS 4.33 by default installs only the x86 (32 bit) codec and it isn’t the latest released one.
Go here: http://www.videohelp.com/software/ffdshow
and click on “Download ffdshow 1.3.4533 64-bit” in order to download the x64 version codec (file “ffdshow_rev4533_20140929_clsid_x64.exe” 4.79MB), or click on “Download ffdshow 1.3.4533” in order to download the x86 version codec (file “ffdshow_rev4533_20140929_clsid.exe” 4.61MB).
If you want to run BMS 4.33 in x32 bit mode, simply uninstall the current ffdshow codec and then install this newer one, means the “ffdshow_rev4533_20140929_clsid.exe”.
Then all the campaign videos will been shown fine .

I’ve been flying out of Evenes so I edited an RNoAF HPMA ILS chart to work in BMS
-procedure altitudes
-tacan radials/distances
-GPS coordsworks well enough, you won’t die
download pdf: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1g4eSgmEw-5_qHdOr8H1hI2514lfAAvGF
here’s the original: https://avinor.no/globalassets/_microsite/ais-portal/mil/enev/en_ad_2_enev_301hpmails17_en.pdf
edit: the ILS only has a range of 18nm so had to tighten down the procedure turn… v1.12

NTO PV V2.3
https://www.mediafire.com/file/5amjs4y8ne3g3fm/NTO_Polar_Vortex_2.3.7z/fileJust posting installer for Luke, but some changes I know about are to map, av8 brake, tdf fix. anything else Luke will tell. I did darken map a little more like ccc suggested. it was fine on one PC but very too bright on another.
Yuri’s brimstone TER not in here yet, but soon.Cheers

Updated first post with link to v2.3 download, removed all links to previous updates as they are all included in this release.

Yes it is, only thing check squadron stores using MC. Some weapons might be at 0 quantity.

I like the aesthetic of the new map,
but unfortunately it’s just not nearly as functional as the old one. I no longer have access to the in-game roads or terrain, it’s really like having no map at all… -
We tried to plan some missions but we’re flying blind… is there an easy way we can install the old one please?
I agree that it looks cool, definitely a neat concept. But it’s game-breaking. -
Added link to first post for the old map
-
Thanks. It’s an interesting idea, to fit a real world map on there. Obviously took a lot of work. But in the end, it’s much more useful to have an accurate view of the in-game terrain & road system to plan around, imo.
How did Starrats (?) generate the original map anyways?
