Some campaign related questions

…And once they’ve reached their destination (if the Falcon Gods have ordained it) it’s a good idea to reassign them to HQ control. This may cause them to head off cross-theater, but it may be preferable to having them static. Depends on what you’re trying to achieve I suppose.
It would be another great addition to the 2D map if the units not controlled by HQ were highlighted somehow.

Agreed. It can be easy to lose track. A subtle pulse/fade sort of effect would work well.
Aside from capturing objectives, this can also be used to ensure your air defense umbrella keeps pace with your advance. One of the first things I do when starting a new campaign is to find a few SAM units in low priority regions and get them rolling to the front. Rolling Fire in particular, where Blue advances quickly outrange the SAM coverage.

Good thought about moving anti-aircraft defense along with the front.
Controlling ground units is definitely hit-and-miss. They generally move in the required direction, except sometimes they don’t. I am assuming that this is somehow determined by the units supply/fatigue/morale levels.

Some of us believe it is determined by the type of chicken used in the sacrifice to the Falcon Gods. But you may be right
I find marine battalions mostly reliable and that’s what I tend to use if they are available. And you bring up a good point about fatigue. Just rolling the 10 miles from Osan to Suwon can tucker the poor pixeltruppen out. Gotta keep an eye on fatigue levels and give 'em a rest occasionally or they will just sit there doing nothing.

Chicken sacrifice was my next guess. Better cover all the angles.

Mysteries of the campaign never end. In my ongoing Balkans struggle, situation just turned from “Excellent” to “Bleak” for no reason that I can discern. All force level stats are showing that NATO armies are winning.

most likely a campaign trigger just executed an changed the balance. intentionally or maybe not rightfully.Cheers Obi1

In order to get control over ground troops, HQ control should be unchecked manually in each ground unit, which is a painfull job.- I think a method for doing it automatically for some or all units should be welcome in future upgrades.-

The campaign engine could be expanded into a full blown RTS. It would take lots of effort, but with the existing baseline I think it’s very much doable.

Thread’s not dead Zed. Just derailed, and oddly cryptically at that. Was there more you wanted to talk about?
How’s your BoP going? Zadar, Bihac and Zagreb can be tough nuts to crack, but once captured things can start rolling on the ground. In my past two BoPs, Zadar held out well past the other two, creating a long exposed right flank for the forces moving on from Bihac. That forced me to really concentrate on that sector so that the line could be shortened. And then it happened again at Split. At some point there is usually a big Red ground reinforcement. Normally this isn’t great for campaign progress. But it almost always results in the reinforcements being placed directly on top of themselves, so that an attack results in kills of 4 or 5 different units. A string of CBU can really clean up when this happens. The area around Split and Kastela is often a gold mine in my campaigns.
Keep an eye on the Adriatic as well. The FRY’s strong naval tradition will make itself felt
(I know you’re not called Zed, just sort of a Pulp Fiction thing)
Ok, so I completed the objectives on day 4 of the BoP campaign and I got a stalemate result. Searching through the posts here I noticed that you’ve run into this issue as well in the past. Did it ever get resolved?
-
I don’t think so. Cougar’s aware of the issue, as you saw, but I’ve not heard it’s been dealt with.
I didn’t think to mention that little tidbit. Apologies, as a stalemate seems a stain on the logbook, but I have it too as a result.
Regardless, a 4-day victory in BoP is excellent. It’s a victory regardless of the stalemate. Great job mate.

Thanks, no worries. I was just wondering if there is some known workaround.
