Unable to watch campaign movie
-
When I press the campaign, a blue box just pops up and backs down again. No movies come.
Any ideas?
-
Probably a video codec issue.
Try installing one of the well-known codec packs, e.g. this one (BASIC suffices, only pick a “bigger” one if you know that you have active need for the additional features):
https://codecguide.com/download_kl.htmDon’t forget to reboot after the installation.

I have downloaded codec and rebooted the computer, but with no results. The campaign movies could now be watched under the movie file, however. In addition, the intro and all other movies cannot be played in the game.
Is there any reason for this?
I put my Falcon folder in E: drive instead of the conventional drive. Does this matter?
-
I had encountered similar problems with Falcon 4.0 downloaded from Steam.
Is there anything else I could do other than downloading Codec packs?
-
I reinstalled the entire game, but campaign movies are still unwatchable. The blue box just pops up and backs down again.
Have anyone encountered the same problem?
-
I had a similar issue years ago. I think I solved with directx update.
-
How do you do directx updates?
-
-
I redownloaded DirectX 9, however the problem still persisted.
Do I have to update the new DirectX (DirectX 12) or just redownload 9?
In order to do DirectX 12 updates I have to update Windows.
Is there anything else I could do?
Is there a configuration “No Movie” anywhere? I may have accidentally turned it on.
-
Has any one else encountered the same problem? Am I the only one with the campaign movies and intro not playing?
-
yeah - I can get the movie in the file folder to play but not in-game/UI. tried the stuff above but no joy. ah well no big deal just a minor thing.
-
I got these two out of dark man’s codec post.
Running both of these executables worked for me. -
This worked really well! I cannot thank enough!

I’m experiencing this as well in 4.34.4, i just did a fresh install. anyone figure this out?
