Unable to fire the gun
-
Please help before I finally go insane…
The one and only thing I cannot come to terms with in 4.34 is that my gun won’t fire… Yes, I’m in the DF mode, and the Master Arm is ON.
I don’t have a full HOTAS stick, but I’ve always been able to map the essential functions (TMS, DMS, etc.) to either the keyboard or my 16 joystick buttons. On the controller setup screen I get the correct ‘Fire gun’ readout when pressing Button 1. Button 2, ‘Pickle Weapon’, works fine, and I can fire missiles and drop bombs normally. But no gun, dammit!
It is very likely that I do something wrong.
The stick is a TM 16.000 with integrated throttle.
Any ideas? -
Did you set gun on?
You have to go to SMS page and set to either EEGS or some other gun mode. I cannot really remember the names of the modes, but to change just press the OSB that dispays AAM below. That would change to gun mode. -
I’m not sure what the exact keyfile mapping is, but if you nap your ‘button 1’ to ‘second trigger detent’ in the ‘sidestick’ section, that should work.

Thank you for your attempt to assist, Phil, but the problem lay elsewhere. Let me elaborate, as it may prove helpful to others.
I first discovered the issue flying in KTO. Close to despair I did some profound search of the forum threads as I remembered that someone had signalled a similar problem before. I found one good piece of advice that the gun trigger (button 1 in my case) should be mapped as the ‘second trigger indent’ which I did immediately to no effect. That was when I was testing the newly released EMF theatre where, for some reason, the F-16 carries no Vulcan ammo… Returned to KTO and - voila! - the gun fires as supposed to. Also in the Balkans everything is fine. So the ‘second trigger indent’ was the right step to take.
Thanks again. -

Exactly! Please read my explanation (we were both posting almost at the same time! )
