Noobie question….Help with the data cartridge
-
I know this is probably really simple and I am missing something.
I can not get my data cartridge to load into the aircraft. If I start a mission and load at “taxi” or “runway,” then it will have automatically loaded the data cartridge for the mission (example: -BMS 004- Champagne) Not my data pilots data cartridge that i have programmed. If I load the mission and start the jet up myself then when I go to the DTE to load there is no name whatsoever. I load and save the data cartridge before I take off, I don’t know what I am doing wrong. Help would be appreciated.

TEs use the TE-named .ini file. Campaign uses the callsign .ini
-
OK, that clarifies part of it! So when i load into the campaign, and i go to the DTE page it shows a blank name, and will not load any steer-points. However if i say i want to be on the taxiway it will have loaded a blank Data cartridge and have the steer-points. So i guess i am not sure why it will not load “von falcons” data cartridge and instead gives me a blank one.
-
When you’re in the 2D mission planning screen, do you save your data cartridge?
-
Correct, I load and save the data cartridge and then start the mission. But when I load from the DTE page nothing is there and none of the waypoints load. Whereas if I taxi or takeoff I get the waypoints but not my own presents, ECW, etc.
-
I think it used to say “Viper’s DTC.ini” or whatever before. I’m not sure it does that now. You can check by alt-tabbing on the ramp, editing the callsign ini in Notepad and then loading DTE to see if your changes propagate.
-
Loading the DTC at ramp now does not have your callsign showing on the MFD… your steerpoints won’t show up until after INS initialization and you switch to NAV mode
-
It would be cool if your DTC would ID based on something like package number, flight number, flight position like 271911. Probably real DTC ID is either serial of that particular piece of hardware or programmed mission label. I bet it is on info card in cockpit for pilot to check he got his right Taco Bell order.

Problem solved! i was not turning the avionics from align to NAV…. So rookie move haha. I seem to remember that it showed your ID name from 4.33 but could be mistaken. Anyway thanks so much for everyone’s help, i can finally fly with waypoints.

Well I am just reviving the post.
I am also quite a newb, and I am also facing a DTE load problem when starting from ramp start.
I can’t see any waypoint on my MFD, even after loading the DTE, switching from Align to Nav, and taxing/taking off.
Am I missing something? In the briefing I tried to Load then Save the DTE, Save then Load, only Save… What’s the correct sequence there, and by the way what’s the “Load” button doing?
Thanks for helping -
IFF Tab->IFF PLAN
COMM Tab->COMM PLAN
TARGETS Tab->RESET ALLThen SAVE. Don’t LOAD.
From BMS-Manual.pdf 6.1.1 Common Buttons
LOAD loads the callsign.ini file
So it will load your User/Config/<your callsign=“” name=“”>.ini for specific reasons but you don’t need to load them for your TE or Dynamic Campaign usually.</your>

Oh and keep in mind to reset all targets then move STPTs or set Preplanned threat STPT, then save DTC again.

Thanks. I’ll try that this evening
