Anybody running BMS through Display Port

I’m on the hunt for a new computer, I purchased a refurbed box it had plenty of horse power but no video card, I see some great deals out there but no video card , but have a VGA port, and a Display Port, could use some advice if a display port will pull BMS 4.34

I am using a GForce 1060 with an adaptor from the card display port to my VGA monitor, without problems.-
But I dont understand how do you have VGA and Display Ports without a card.- -
Display Ports support Hi Definition outputs.
But as Falcon/BMS is not aware of &/or doesn’t care how you connect a monitor.
SO its irreverent.
SO what is your real question, try to rephrase it again.
Do you have an older monitor that only has D-Sub connection ?

sometimes DP will not support audio based on system architecture mainly hardware configs and oddball displays- a good way to absolutely cover all bases in 99.999999 percent of situations is to use a high end display port out adapter to hdmi female from your gpu and just use an hdmi cable to any modern display monitor or tv. most of the time a good adapter and cable will even bypass the oversample on most televisions that do it.

Do note that HDMI may limit your refresh rate, so you may have a 144Hz monitor but the HDMI cable only allows 60 frames. Display port does not have that issue. So if you have a newer monitor, check what it’s refresh rate is to decide cabling

Thanks for the feed back, to clear things up I know nothing about the Display Port or it’s capabilities, that’s something new to me I was hoping that it would be a alternative to putting a new video card into a bargain computer.

Like several others here I am just confused by your comments yubba. You state the system doesn’t have a video card but are concerned about what DP can do. If you are trying to ask if a GPU built into the CPU is going to work you might as well skip wondering about d-sub versus DMI versus HDMI versus display port as it won’t have the horse power to run BMS at high refresh rates any ways.
I am running BMS on three 2k displays, all through display port in a NVidia Surround display, at 144Hz refresh. So yes BMS will display just fine through display port. I’m going to point right back up to Shadow’s post above. We need a clear question here.

Hdmi can deliver more than 60fps surely? But does it not depend on resolution and there the amount of bandwidth required to drive that much data per second?

further clarification, the bargain computers I’m looking at only have a VGA port with the little blue pinned connector which has 2 screws to hold to the box , and a port called Display Port that all most looks like a usb port I want to know if this display port will run BMS.

The port has nothing to do with being able to run a certain game or not.

DP is amazing at least 17 Gbps, and double with DP 1.3. It supports things like daisy chaining monitors so second monitor can be plugged into first. It’s at least as good as HDMI and I prefer it when possible. At least one of my monitors is DP and I wish they all were.
HDMI 1.4 is 10Gbps and 18 Gbps for 2.0. It’s know for being very standard and easy.

Some HDMI can, but you have to be careful to obtain the right cable and perhaps also that the monitor has to have the proper HDMI port version. I think HDMI 2.0 supports 60+ fps. So DisplayPort is just less hassle and ensures that you will see 60+ fps if your monitor allows it. Any new-ish graphics card and monitor will have DP ports.
I have had two household computers with good graphics cards (1080 and 2070) capped at 60Hz due to HDMI cables, once we switched to DP the refresh rate went up to 144 Hz.

I hear what your saying now.
The Budget PC your looking at don’t have a dedicated GPU. But they do have “Onboard Graphics” that is part of the CPU. And its output is on the back panel just under where you would connect your mouse/keyboard. ?
If so its capabilities , I expect, would be minimal.
You will need to purchase and “add-on” Video card. GTX-1050 TIs are good value or AMD RX-570 .

Ah yeah, that’s what I thought. HDMI 2 can do 3440x1440 at 100hz. The restriction is based around bandwidth; pushing nearly 5 BILLION pixels down a cable 100x per second requires a lot of it.
It sounds like the display or the HDMI themselves weren’t HDMI 1.4 or 2.0. But yes, I just went for DP on my display as I’m running 3440x1440 on a 100hz Gsync display, meaning I’m pushing 5billion pixels at anything up to 100 times a second.
