Morphine's Profile

Thanks for the profile, this one is the first one that works to 95% for my system. There is only one single issue. For me the functions assigned to China Hat do not work. Could you maybe update this?
Hello Hollywood,
Which commands on the China Hat are not working (shifted, unshifted or both)?
For the unshifted commands (i.e. the Range Knob for controlling TGP zoom) you must map the “Throttle - Thrustmaster Combined” Axis to the Range Knob in the Avionics Control Page of Falcon BMS. Please refer to the Avionics Control Tabs graphic on the web site. Also, when testing, the TGP must be SOI for it to zoom.
For the shifted layer (Emergency Jett and Eject), you have to hold the Shift button S3 and the China Hat for simultaneously 1.5 seconds before the command is sent. I did this so we wouldn’t accidently jettison our weapons or eject from the aircraft. I forgot to document that properly so I apologize for that.
Hope that helps.
Cheers.

Ok. I guess this is it … i did not wait 1.5sec
Let me try again

Worked. It was the waiting time. Thanks for this nice profile!!

Loaded up your profile quickly and so far it seems to work A-ok!
So I wish to express my grattitude to you for making this excellent profile available for those of us that are less adept at TARGET’s scripting.Thumbs up!

I like your profile, i have not yet used it, but i think i will implement some of your solutios.
I just have a question, why don’t u use the TMS and DMS on the stick as it is in real F- Stick?
Thank you -
i am trying to implement some kind of “zoom in” and “zoom out” on one of the hats H1 or H2. in addition with a TIR stop command i want to establish a stable view on the MFD´s for example.
idea is:
1st press -> stop TIR and zoom in by a specific amount of zoom
2nd press -> zoom out by the same amount of zoom and start TIRunfortunately i haven´t found the zoom-in command so far.
in DCS A10 i use the Hat 1 to move back-and-forth and left-and-right in the cockpit to get a stable view on different parts of the cockpit.
cheers

Thank you@Tycho, I did map the unshifted layer of both the TMS and DMS to the default F-16 functions. It is mapped in the key file using DX commands. I just didn’t put it in the graphic and only listed the shifted commands. I did modify the CMS from the default functions to use the vertical press capability of the Warthog which the Cougar does not have. Hope that answers your question.

@flex, I don’t know all the different zoom functions well enough to offer any useful advice. I have a second monitor that I use to display the MFDs so mine are always crystal clear I think you’ll need to experiment with the zoom functions listed in keyfile-generator.xls to see if there is something there that suits your purpose. The only thing I can quickly think of is to look at the MFD (with TIR) and then hit pause. You could then use the FOV command to zoom in a bit until it’s as clear as you want it. But I don’t think that is exactly what you are trying to do.
Good luck!

I hate to ask what is probably a really dumb question, but I can’t figure this out. I can use the RWS or TWS mode without problem, but I can’t designate a target. I have tried TMS right but that seems to only change the presentation of the FCS screen. Whenever I use TMS up or down they won’t be designated. I have gotten it to work once, but I don’t really know what I did to make it work.
-
I’m not sure I understand the exact nature of the problem from your email but I’ll offer some tips below. Also, if you’re new to FalconBMS, I’d recommend watching Krause’s training videos (esp. the FCR, AIM-120, AIM-9, HMCS, Dog Fight Mode video for A/A target designation).
1. Designate is actually TMS Up in both RWS and TWS. After you designate the first target you can then use TMS right to “Step” (designate) to the next tracked target in TWS.
2. Make sure you have placed the cursors over the target you are trying to designate before using TMS Up.
3. Just to make sure your TMS button is working, you can also select different steerpoints in the HSD by first making it SOI (DMS Down) and then moving the cursor over a steerpoint (an unfilled circle) and selecting TMS Up. This should cause the circle to become solid and it is now your new steerpoint.
Hope that helps.
Cheers.

Thanks Morphine, I will try the TMS up. I know the button is working. However, another question. I decided to go through each tutorial from beginning to end because I want to learn to fly this thing right. In the first tutorial, Ramp Start, I keep getting stuck on the throttle initialization. I am obviously using your profile and key file, and I have the idle detent redline setup up slightly above the bottom the the throttle movement (although I have tried it at the bottom as well). I have also enabled the idle cutoff patch in the config. But the tutorial says to move the throttle from idle to full AB and back to off, and for some reason it thinks I am not either moving it to full AB or to off, not sure which. I have the AB green line set in the dead zone. In the setup when I move the throttle over the detent to off it shows a key combo of Alt-i. I really don’t want to get stuck this early…:) Any ideas?

A couple of things….
I have the Idle Cutoff unchecked in the Configuration Options -> Settings Hardware (the Falcon BMS Configuration before you launch the Sim).
Shutting Down: I have the Red Line all the way to the bottom. The Idle Cutoff for the Throttle works when you lift the throttle levers up and over the detent on the bottom. This will shut the engine down. It does it by triggering a button when you lift the throttle up (I’ve programmed the button to send ALT-i).
Starting the Engine: After configuring the Jet for start (fuel, brakes, power, etc.), I leave the throttle at idle in the unlifted state (just pulled all the way back) and hit the JFS button (ENG OPER L on the WH). After a short pause you should hear the JFS spooling up. Wait until the SEC light goes out on the Caution panel and then move the throttle to 50%. Now hit the Idle Detent button (ENG OPER R on the WH) and wait about a second. For some reason, I then need to move the throttle forward and back about +/- 20% and eventually the RPM’s start coming up. As soon as the RPM’s cross 35-40% you can then just move the throttle back to idle and the engine will continue to spool and eventually stabilize at idle (~70%). If the RPM’s don’t start coming up after about 5 seconds, I repeat the procedure starting with the throttle to 50% and hitting the Idle Detent button (ENG OPER R).
Hope that helps and good luck.

Yes, that’s how it is working on mine as well, but in that first training flight for some reason it either isn’t seeing the throttle moving to full AB or to full OFF, I’m not sure which. And in that tutorial there is no way to get by that step unless it sees both full AB and full off. When I’m in the controllers setup screen I see that lifting the throttle over the idle detent sends an ALT-i. This one is driving me crazy. I will try posting in the tech support and see if anyone there has any ideas. But when I’m flying I can shut down the engine by pulling the throttle over the idle detent…
-
Hmmm… never looked at the training mission you mentioned… I’ll give it a shot and let you know what I find.

I finally figured it out, you just have to keep hitting Shift-K until it clears that screen. Startup worked just as you said…Thanks a ton!

Morphine,
I love your profile and it is by far the best one out there for FALCON BMS. However, I seriously miss having the option for LABELS and wish the CMS was configured realistically with the HOTAS. Everything else is perfect. Im active duty officer is the Army and dont have time to learn TARGET scripting or keymapping and was seriously hoping you can help me out. Any assistance Morphine would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just dropped to say thanks for great profile. Very logical and there wasn’t lot for me to change. Some minor changes on view bindings and i switched laser and cat 1/cat 3 switch other way around, because on cockpit Cat switch is left and laser switch is on right so it makes sense to me to have them same way on throttle. Otherwise it’s perfect profile.

Yes, thanks for the great profile and it has prompted me to start learning TARGET!
