Just got a new Warthog need setup help
-
Hello all;
Getting back into Falcon after a break and just purchase the Warthog. I did the Basic profile that was in the BMS Input Devices with MFD’s but this profile dose not make use of the switches on the throttler. I also will be using Voice Attack and I am looking for a profile for that also, but I know I should be asking about that in another area. Also do I need to use the Target Software for anything? Also in the Setup in falcon for controls are you using Basic profile or the Full profile? -
Congrats on the new device!
Do yourself a favour and do not use TARGET, dx programming is the way to go IMSHO
You can use Kolbe’s spreadsheet to generate a matching keyfile for your setup (including the MFDs). It’s a bit convoluted at first but well worth checking out and finding your way around in. You can open it in libreOffice as well. (check the “key file generator” stuff in your docs/devices and input folder (from memory))
Also check the file “devicesorting.txt” that BMS generates to find out about the order of devices BMS finds on your system, it coul be important to enter the right device order in Kolbe’s spreadsheet.
All the best,
Uwe

Gastone’s profile is very useful although it uses TARGET.Havent had problems with it and when u learn the basics of programming that come with the manual u can tweak it to your liking

Here’s a key file that should get you going, provided your wt is set as 2 separate devices (stick: 1, throttle: 2) and your 2 mfds register as devices 3&4.
The spreadsheet in the key file editor directory for a description of the default layout.
All the best,
Uwe

Thanks to the both of you. I have another question on the controller setup are you using Basic or Full?
-
I could not unzip the file.
-
Actually it’s gzip-commpressed 7z & friends should open it just fine.
You can download the full uncompressed file here:
https://zif.gplrank.info/hoover/bms_keys.txt (use “save as” or copy & paste the text into a new file).
All the best, Uwe

I have a TM warthog. I Use Alternate Launcher using DirectX. With alternate launcher You can program your toggle switches on your throttle for off and on, and more. I Use Joy to Key run as administrator to make use of the point of view Hat on the throttle. Very simple to use.

thanks for the heads-up on joytokey, I’ll have a look. It appears from the website that this program uses a different concept than joystick gremlin, vjoy & friends? It would be could to be able to access the 2nd coolie hat in falcon, but then again I don’t even use all the switches on the WT throttle (yet :))
All the best,
Uwe

Convoluted doesn’t begin to describe how to use it, <chuckle>Only thing I could use if for was for guidance on what function to assign to what switch/button.</chuckle>

That program is really sweet, I just purchased a license, thanks again for pointing it out.
I kept having problems with discord’s PTT function when trying to use my racing wheel (discord just ignored all buttons on that wheel most of the time). With J2K I have now mapped four buttons on various controllers (warthog POV, g-25 shifter, t500rs wheel) to emulate the “right control” key and it works like a charm. Well worth the $7!

Another option to use for the WartHog throttle POV is VoiceAttack. You’ll probably end up using it for voice commands anyway and it has a feature allowing POV assignments for up to 4 devices with POV buttons.
