New X55 owner, some issues and questions…
-
Hi all, just recently got an X55 set, excited to give them a try, i jumped in & started setting things up. 2 Days later in still at it. Im having a bit of a hard time configuring things to my liking. I started off using the profile from memphis here, i needed to make adjustments to the key file, to enable my TM Mfd’s, then i started seeing some really odd imputs, and it was a real mess. Nothing to do with the profile, just the way the key file is different in alot of ways than the default which im used to so it’s my problem there. Anyway, i gave up on that, decided to go back to basics and start my own profile using dx inputs and the default keys. If i dont use the HUD software, i can program the stick more or less ok, but strangley the grey hat right key, wouldnt accept any dx input at all, it was set at mfd2 and i couldnt change it, all the other buttons work fine?! Some times BMS detects the buttons, other times not? Weird, i did get it working using the hud software though so im happy that is sorted. I tried it in game and all is well, stick and all buttons work as they should. Ok, over to the throttle, tried using the same approach, but no luck so far, and now if i load the profile my head tracking (face track noir with delan clip) freezes, and will not restart? I can stop & restart it in windows ok, then it freezes again, something to do with the rotaries perhaps or the HUD software… ?
Anyone know if there is some bug between these two programs??
Im on windows 7, and X55 is connected via powered hub btw.Im very happy with the controls themselves, but im finding the setup a nightmare

Here is my profile and keyfile, http://www.fast-files.com/getfile.aspx?file=91510 (its based on kolbes keyfile)
Works nice, all hats set in falcon, some keys set in hud profiler.

And you can try this too http://sourceforge.net/projects/keyfileeditor/

Thanks boys, will try those links out later on. Another Q while im here, do i leave the rotaries out of the game menu, or calibrate them in bms? I did have one working for the antenna elevation, the larger one on top didn’t respond in game even though it moves in the menu…

Just set one rotary for antenna Elevation in BMS controller setup and second for FOV adjust or like me -> gage/manualrange rotary (i dont use it much, quite useless 90% time ) if u go for my profile u find that fov is in wheel end of Throttle

Hi ! I had some issues with my x52 connected via an usb hub, so try to connect it directly !

I created a profile using the HUD software. Got it as close to the real thing as possible. It uses 2 modes….one for the air and one for startup. If you pm me your email, I will send it to you along with my bms .key file I use with it. I use rudder pedals and trackir. It works flawlessly in the game. No issues at all and none reported from others I have shared it with.

Just an update, think i have got things going in the right direction. I unplugged the x55 s&t from the powered hub, and put them into the tower directly. I spent 2 hours programming and testing in game last night and everything seemed to work as it should do, all buttons were working and my head tracking didn’t crash. Thanks to all who shared profiles, i got alot of ideas on how to set things up and have my own modified profile now.
Still cant get the large rotary on top of the throttle to work in game, have it reading in the advanced menu no probs, but cant seem to get it right, radar range doesnt change? Need to spend more time on that over the weekend and see… -

It wont change radar range , least not for all modes…
The range knob never change radar range It was named this way because of its original purpose, changing range to target in a gunsight mode.
It does change TGP zoom and radar gain in AG mode though.
To change the range with your HOTAS control, just drive the cursor up/down.7
EDIT : and BTW, although the analog axis works properly, the keystrokes callbacks emulating range knob up/down have a bug and do change radar range in AA…… but thats not the intended behavior at all.

I just use the rotary for radar elevation. Programmed it in advanced mode.

Why program it in hud? It works much better in bms setup , just set as axel
Or do you mean rotary in left end of throtle ?
-
I didn’t program the rotaries using HUD but within BMS.

Hi there my friend. I had same issue. I uninstalled saitek pedal drivers i think there was a conflict. All working now.

Guys, still making good progress on the profile programming, have started a brand new one today, but cannot get the silver rotary on the throttle working as the mouse zoom, can anyone help on how to do this?

I have the pinky silver rotary programmed for zoom In/Out. Not at my computer now. When I get a chance, I can post it…if someone else does not post first.
-
I have mapped it as zoom too, silver rotary is actually just button

Can you help Drac? Still having no luck in getting zoom mapped…

Mastersetter - Below is what I have mapped to my Throttle:
FOVDecrease -1 0 0X4F 1 0 0 1 “VIEWGEN: Decrease FOV – Or Mousewheel”
FOVIncrease -1 0 0X47 1 0 0 1 “VIEWGEN: Increase FOV – Or Mousewheel” -
Ok, so do i paste this into the .key file im using?
