BMS434U3->Cannot create AIR REFUEL flights…
-
Since BMS434U3 a bug regarding creating AIR REFUEL flights seems very present.
Irrespective of whether an air refueling squadron is SET by HG or not, the following error message is displayed when trying to create such a package using, say a KC-135E refueling aircraft.
The error message is as follows:
UNABLE TO DO THIS (ie. create the package)
NO PATH TO TARGET FOUND->COULD NOT SETUP INGRESS WPsJust thought I should report that…
This bug definitely occurs in campagne mode. Not sure if it happens in TE mode. Will check on TE mode and report soon.Good day to all and stay safe for yourself and others with COVID-19 thing.

PS…Is their a way to go around this bug?
-
After verification regarding whether the bug is present when creating an air refueling flight in a TE mission the result indicate that NO, the bug does not seem to be present.
In a TE, whether you add an air refuel flight via the TE editor or even when you add such a flight via an ADD PACKAGE when a TE is running (adding on the fly in a TE) the bug does not seem to appear.
Will test to see if we can add such a flight in multiplayer TE missions. Back soon to report on that.

I’ve seen “the bug” (not really a bug) in 4.34xx . - still didn’t try 4.34.u3 – will see this week .
But is easy to go around.
Try different location when creating tanker package , more closer to the friendly territory, then just move waypoints where you want them…
- I think it is related to how far tanker missions are created regarding the “FLOT” … that is in falcon4.aii file … but really, that didn’t happen earlier… something changed.
Cheers

I concur with your post white_fang, I sent 101_Everest a PM shortly after he posted almost saying exactly what you posted. I usually refrain from posting in the Tech Support section as I don’t want to step on any devs toes, but since you did I’ll give your post a hearty 2nd. I had this issue when doing the Tiger Spirit campaign, and this is the workaround I did for placing JSTARS and AWACS flights in captured enemy territory.

Cantoo & White_Fang,
Wow, that is some amassing work around. Just tested it on our server and on my local machine in campagne mode.
Effectively, your trick works but I think you need to have unset the SET by HQ option on the air refuel squadron. Was able to create an air refuel flight far, far away from the air base and from the campaign flot line…then moved the WPs closer afterwards as you both suggested.
Your technique is definitely the work around for the mentioned error message from this original post.
Thanks for the tip dear fellow pilots.
All the best and stay confined with COVID-19 stuff. Would not want you to evaporate from this forum.

Yes I did forget to mention this was the status of that Squadron. I always fully manage my campaigns and all of the Squadrons have the “Set By HQ” unset. Good you pointed that out, I never checked to see if it worked with the HQ box set. So I have learned something as well!

Hi all,
I found this thread from the “NO PATH TO TARGET FOUND->COULD NOT SETUP INGRESS WPs” error message I am getting.
I am in a Rolling Fire campaign, late 2nd day and blue ground forces have begun their advance across the DMZ. This campaign is run with most units not “set by HQ”.
I have used Mission Commander to relocate the 35th Fighter Squadron (F16) from Kunsan, north to Kimpo to be closer to the action.
I am trying to task an AIRLIFT mission to resupply Kimpo.
New Package
Select C-17 (Fukuoka)
Select AIRLIFT
Target Kimpo Airbase.
OK.Then I get the error above.
Any suggestions?

Create the resupply/airlift flight to another airbase, try Kunsan, then once the flight is created move the airlift steerpoint from Kunsan up to Kimpo. Make sure Kimpo shows as the new “target” for that airlift steerpoint. If the target does not show Kimpo change the “action” in the flight plan window for that steerpoint to land, then back to “air drop” . Kimpo should then show as the “target”.

It can, as long as there are aircraft available for the frag. Not sure about timing after they land as far as making them available again for refrag. It works with fighter and attack squadrons so I’d imagine it’d work with support assets as well.

Thanks Cantoo. That did the trick. A couple of notes. Yes, I had to change the action from Land to Air Drop for the Kimpo steerpoint, but the target did change from Kunsan to Kimpo automatically.
One minor hitch, I think I hadn’t changed the lock on the time for the Air Drop steerpoint, so after I moved it from Kunsan to Kimpo, the flight had adjusted its takeoff time to have already taken off, meaning I couldn’t edit the steerpoint at Kimpo.
I just went and created another Airlift flight, but this time to a closer airbase to Kimpo (Chongju) and locked the time for steerpoint 1 before moving the Air Drop steerpoint. Fixed.

You’re welcome Pegasus82. I could have been more detailed in my answer for those who are not familiar with altering flight plans. Before adjusting the steerpoints on any flight plan it’s best to unlock ALL of the steerpoints, except steerpoint one which must be locked, otherwise you will get the timings and speeds all out of synch resulting in lots of red lines in your flight plan!

Anyone with a solution for this annoying problem??? I’m trying to create an Air Refueling flight, but “no path to target found” ….

white_fang’s workaround still works very well.
I just tried it out, works great.
