Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments)
-
Thanks for the reply Vandal! That makes sense, I’ll give it a try!
One other oddity that I’ve noticed since using the alternate launcher is that I’ve lost the ability to use the mouse scroll wheel on cockpit wheels like the QNH knob and the UFC brightness wheels. I have my view FOV axis set to the mouse scroll but I always have and it hasn’t conflicted with those in the past. Any ideas?

Huh, so strange. Renaming the .key file from the default “BMS - BasicDX X-52pro.key” to “BMS - Full.key” worked for one instance, but the radar slew is doing that runaway thing where you move it in one direction and then centre the stick but the slew keeps moving indefinitely. Then exited 3D, checked the setting and loaded back into 3D and now none of the keypresses on the HOTAS do anything again. Shows they are working in the 2D screen but nothing in 3D.
About to give up on this.

I use AL and my mouse wheel works both FOV and QNH knob etc. So my guess is that somehow you got a setting changed somewhere. I’m not at my gaming PC today and probably not much this weekend otherwise I’d look for you. If you don’t get an answer from someone else send me a DM on Monday and I’ll see if I can figure out what might cause that.

Thanks Vandal, really appreciate your swift help!
I’ve head a breakthrough though! So i cut away trying to use the default X52 Profile that comes from the docs folder. For whatever reason, it and the alt launcher just don’t get along. even when i rename it to the BMS - Full.key. In the 3D world it just stops registering keypresses after approx 15 seconds!
Anyway. The issue with the scoll wheel not working on dials in the cockpit was fixed by deselecting the mouse wheel as the FOV axis in the alt launcher and leaving that field blank! It still works as a FOV axis by default which I didn’t realise.
My other little victory is that I’ve figured out how to use the best elements of the default profile that I like whilst just using the alt launcher to set all axis and key mappings and the logitech profiles for the bare nuts and bolts. Using the default “BMS X-52pro_DX.pr0” that comes in the docs folder works to use the mode switch for MRM/DF/CANCEL like a charm.
The only remaining problem I have is that the RDR cursor slew is still runaway. I’ve read online many posts and even in the “BMS Device Setup Guide.pdf” where it talks specifically about the press and release of the ‘shift key’ modifier before and after the ‘DX’ but what is frustrating me is that I’m using the default Saitek/Logitech .pro file supplied by BMS. So surely they wouldn’t have buggered that up in their file, right?

Do you have the cursor slew bound to th ministick or one of the 4 way switches?

Using the default .pr0 provided by BMS, It’s bound to the mini-stick using the logitech profiler. I can always revert it to using a 4-way hat but I was really hoping to get the ministick working to free up the throttle hat for COMMS switch and another function.

You can just overwrite Hub.exe and other stuffs from v1.51 for update.
v1.40 had issues with overwrite check option, it is solved now.
….Sorry If only now I replay, but last question on the update from 1.4 to 1.51: does this update overwrite all settings I have done with the old key mapping for which I must to reset what I had set?
I don’t suppose because every change should be save into a key file, don’t you? -
Every joystick setup will be saved in xml files so you can simply update AL to 1.51
-
Do you intend on adding 1.51 to the first post?
-
Made my own map in the AL. Everything works perfectly including the pinky shift. So glad I can fly around now. Just need to learn a lot about the weapons systems (Dash-34) Appreciate all of your work chihirobelmo!!
-
Hey there @Chihirobelmo.
I need to ask you for some help. I’m using the current launcher v1.51 with the up to date BMS version. Did a clean installation.
Now I do own the complete Thrustmaster FCS Hotas system with pedals and TrackIR and I can not manage to get the throttle pov hat to work.
I can bind them in the launcher config and everything there shows correctly and seems to be working, but inside the game the throttle’s pov hat is without function.
Really can’t figure out what I’m missing or doing wrong. I’ve seen other people’s FCS profiles here that use both pov hats without any problem even without the T.A.R.G.E.T. software.
Even when I tried using their profiles the throttle’s hat is not working. Is there a specific option I need to set to get it to work?Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I just updated my BMS to 4.34 U4, and I updated my Alternative Launcher to 1.51.
So far, almost everything seems to work great. My axes are still assigned like they were before I updated BMS to 4.34 U4, my shifted functions still work, it’s great!
When I start the Alternative Launcher, I see icons for Weapon Delivery Planner, Weather Commander, etc…
However, I don’t any longer see the icons for TrackIR and VoiceAttack.
I still have those applications, and I haven’t moved them. They still work, and if I start them before starting the Alternative Launcher, they work with BMS as usual.
I just don’t see their icons in the initial “Launcher” screen of the Alternative Launcher.
Does anyone know how to get them back?
Thanks for a great program, and thanks for updating it to 1.51. I’m sure I’m just missing something small that’s causing those icons to disappear.

You can’t, it’s just the hardcoded ones you see that are available. You’ll just have to launch them yourself.

Sounds like your in game setting is not using the bms-full keyfile. Make sure that’s the one being used in the control settings in game.

Is your BMS updated to 4.34.4?

Can you explain what “hardcoded” means? I’m afraid I don’t know that term.
The previous version of the Alternative Launcher had little “launcher” icons for TrackIR and Voice Attack. Can you explain what it means that these programs are not “hardcoded”, and why that made them unavailable in the new (1.51) version of the Alternative Launcher?

There just not available and you can’t change what programs the developer has put there!

Hi, Can you set up the LEDs on the warthog throttle through AL?
-
I guess I’m doing something wrong. The launcher wont start. With or without the additional dlls. Could someone point me into the right direction please?
Hub.exe is at Falcon BMS 4.34\bin\x86, right?
How about removing .xml files in User/Config or starting the app unplugging all joysticks?I solved the issue by deleting the joystick.cal and it’s working fine
The reason for the issue was that I used to have a combined input device which is created when I launch my target profile (I use the Warthog stick and throttle).
But I wanted to get rid of that target script stuff and use your launcher instead so I didn’t load that profile and therefore the combined input device did not exist. That caused your code to run into an System.IndexOutOfRangeException in ImportStockSetup() at line 435.
Maybe that would be something that could be fixed in a future update. -

It did? Don’t remember that at all?
