DeeJay's Voice Activaded Commands (VAC) Profiles
-
DJ,
I’ve used and loved Shoot for as long as I can remember… However, recently now using Win7 I do encounter problems with shoot from time to time, not making it 100% effective. So I am considering an alternate program.
Can VAC use two different switch functions to trigger the voice commands? What I mean is with shoot I can use two switch commands to open or transmit my voice commands so I can use both VHF and UHF comm swtich movements to simulate what radio I am on.

Don’t have IVC on my Laptop … but IIRC … unfortunately no, only one. (need to be checked!)

@Marvin
With my Cougar HOTAS, I use Shifted VHF to tx VHF as well as PTT VAC. Similarly I use Shifted UHF for tx UHF and same PTT for VAC.This simple approach enables me to tx VAC commands on UHF or VHF as I see fit. In a MP environment it ensures that tx to the tower are audible to any other aircraft or package working around the same base, and conversely flight only VAC comma are limited to my flights VHF frequency.
By placing VAC on the shifted state, aim still able to tx more freely on both channels, unshifted, without having to worry about VAC misinterpreting a conversation for a command.
I am sure a similar approach is doable on other HOTAS capable of shifted states and executing multiple commands simultaneously.
If you have a COUGAR I can send you my profile. It’s based on Wizards and now includes all Korean airbases as well as most “fighter” call signs.

I’ve had to stop using VAC in MP because it made my incoming IVC volume too low. No idea why but when I didn’t have it running I could hear people again just fine. I tried turning the volume in IVC up all the way to 6.0 but it was still too quiet to make out what people were saying. They on the other hand could hear me just fine. I looked in Volume Mixer in Windows to see if there was an application I could adjust the volume for but neither IVC nor VAC had a seperate tab.
Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how did you get round it?

no problem here

Thanks for the quick replies, do either of you have to ‘Run as administrator’?
I’m running a newer unreleased version (2.6.14) of VAC because of all the problems I had getting it to work with UAC in Windows 7 x64, but it requires me to run it as administrator. I wonder if that is making the difference. It’s definitely VAC that causes the problem with IVC because I have no problem with IVC volume when VAC is not running.
Additional question, are you running with UAC (if you’re running Vista/Windows 7) turned off or on?

Hey Darkman!
Im running win7 64bit with UAC off.
Just installed VAC, modd. the DeeJay vac file to my own keyfile and vola it works every time.
I have installed my VAC to use F6
and I have the pinky switch on my stick to be held in and then UHF or VHF to ARM the VAC, I do not use the default, its to slow and it dont get the voice command if you release the UHF/VHF switch to fast, so the ARM option is perfect for me.Here is my extra lines in my hotas profile (Foxy):
Dunc helped with this here:
Within your Foxy TMM file, create an entry for your preferred VAC arming key, e.g.ArmVAC = F6
and now use that in your Foxy TMJ file for the actual key programming. As UHF is T2 and VHF is T3 in Foxy, your TMJ lines should look like this:
BTN T2 /I /H ArmVAC
/O /H DX21
BTN T3 /I /H ArmVAC
/O /H DX20Like this, T2/T3 will issue ArmVAC (F6) as long as the shifted (/I) button is held down (/H), and they will issue the original DX button numbers (21/20) as long as the unshifted (/O) button is held down (we need the /O stuff so that this part is seen correctly by BMS).
Kukki
NB. hope you find the problem.

Thanks Kukki, you’ve confirmed what I thought; VAC works fine with UAC off (mine did too but I prefer to run with UAC on) and you don’t need to Run as administrator if UAC is turned off.
My implementation of VAC works fine by the way (as per post #41 above) and I’ll continue to use it when I’m not using IVC, it’s just not viable at the moment when I’m flying online as I need to hear my wingmen.
Update: Good news to report.
Following advice from Boxer, Birddog, Nutty and Red Dog I unticked ‘enable volume control’ in TS3, turned down the internal engine volume (currently it’s on 2) and the external (currently it’s on 1) and after testing in online sessions I’ve got everything working in harmony and can still have VAC on in MP.
Thanks everyone for your help and advice. It’s so much less distracting giving voice commands by voice and not keyboard.

One of the problems that I keep seeing is after I give a command the requires key, say w, and the number 1, I see the HUD view. My conclusion is that the “W” key is not being seen. Is there a way to correct this?

You have to correct it depending on your keyboard …
My profile is for french keyboard!

Yep it all depend on you BMS key file.
Here is my full vac profile + overview doc, Perfect to the BMS keyfile regards to AI commandshttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/2667097/Kukki-VAC.zip

I just got this working in my pit and it is very impressive. I did MP AAR flights with Darkman and I can call the tanker with him NOT hearing my AI command but hearing my real voice over IVC but the tanker gets the VAC AI command (y1). I use Kukki’s profile and had the same fun when practising landing TE’s. I call the tower and it responds properly. My method is using the ARM option and the pinky button for shifting. So hold pinky, press COMM switch as normal (VHF or UHF) and talk. I have the Player AI voice disabled. WAY cool. There is no reason not to use this, it adds a lot to the immersion.

Please remind me how to disable the player AI voice.

with VAC u can use voice commands TeamSpeak and IVC all at the same time? What I mean with shoot u can disable it as u push the button and those buttons are the ones I use for TS and IVC so all works perfectly ofcourse I have shoot always enabled waiting for voice commands.
Can the same be done with VAC? or is another way to do it?EDIT: Ohh I just show it’s payware… anyway the q is still on.

SETUP > SOUND > click on radio button next to Player Voice (make sure it is NOT lit).

VAC coexists happily with TeamSpeak and IVC. There are a few ways to do what I think you’re asking in VAC. Excerpt from the help file below:
Push to activate Voice Commands (PTA) - If a key or key combination is assigned here, then voice commands will only work if the assign key is depressed. The assigned key must remain depressed while the command is spoken.
PTA Mode - PTA can be assigned three modes:
1. Default mode - the assigned keys must be depressed and held while speaking the action phrase.
2. Toggle mode - the assigned keys will act like a switch, press the keys once and the recognized commands will be sent, press the assigned keys again and the commands will no longer be sent.
3. Arm mode - pressing the assigned keys will arm the switch for the recognized commands to be sent, after recognition the switch will auto-disarm.PTA Exclusive - Selecting this will make the key or key combination available only to VAC.
Note: Use this option with care as it will disable the selected key or key combination in all programs except VAC.
Push to deactivate Voice Commands (PTD) - This would mainly be used for voice over the Internet programs and you would assign the same Push-To-Talk key or key combination from the voice program here. So when you activate your voice over the Internet program with the Push-To-Talk key or key combination, VAC will deactivate. You can assign two sets of PTD keys, clicking the ‘Set’ button will alternate between the two sets.
PTD Exclusive - Selecting this will make the key or key combination available only to VAC.
Note: Use this option with care as it will disable the selected key or key combination in all programs except VAC.
VAC On/Off Key Set - Unlike the top two key assignments when this key set is press it will turn the voice recognition on/off. This switch works like a light switch press once voice is off, press again voice is on.
I hope that helps.

Does anybody with the Saitek X52 Pro and uses VAC possibly help me out on figuring how to assign a button on the throttle to activiate a VAC command. I have assigned the F1 key as the command activation key in the VAC profile ( i am using kukki’s profile). I then assign the button on the throttle to the F1 key in the Saitek profile software. I then start BMS (making sure the VAC and Saitek profiles are ON), and when I push the button on the throttle, nothing happens when I speak a command. If someone could give me some pointers on what I am doing wrong, or what steps I am missing… it would be greatly appreciated.

OMG i just discovered this and it is amazing! This should be standard!

Scuby,
I agree. This is a great program and works perfect for me.
Arty,
Get off your wallet. The guy deserves to be paid. I dont know how many hours he spent working on it, but I bet he will never turn a profit. I think supporting these small programs with some dough motivates a guy to do things that we wouldn’t have otherwise. -

I was thinking of UHF since most commands are tower, tanker, awacs related…? But flight commands would be bind to VHF. How would you bind it?
