Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments)
-
You can’t, it’s just the hardcoded ones you see that are available. You’ll just have to launch them yourself.
Can you explain what “hardcoded” means? I’m afraid I don’t know that term.
The previous version of the Alternative Launcher had little “launcher” icons for TrackIR and Voice Attack. Can you explain what it means that these programs are not “hardcoded”, and why that made them unavailable in the new (1.51) version of the Alternative Launcher?

There just not available and you can’t change what programs the developer has put there!

Hi, Can you set up the LEDs on the warthog throttle through AL?
-
I guess I’m doing something wrong. The launcher wont start. With or without the additional dlls. Could someone point me into the right direction please?
Hub.exe is at Falcon BMS 4.34\bin\x86, right?
How about removing .xml files in User/Config or starting the app unplugging all joysticks?I solved the issue by deleting the joystick.cal and it’s working fine
The reason for the issue was that I used to have a combined input device which is created when I launch my target profile (I use the Warthog stick and throttle).
But I wanted to get rid of that target script stuff and use your launcher instead so I didn’t load that profile and therefore the combined input device did not exist. That caused your code to run into an System.IndexOutOfRangeException in ImportStockSetup() at line 435.
Maybe that would be something that could be fixed in a future update. -

It did? Don’t remember that at all?

When I was getting ready to update BMS from U1 to U4, and also to update the AL to 1.51, I took pictures of my screen with my iPad, in case I needed to retrieve configuration settings, key assignments, etc…
Here is a picture of the Alternative Launcher screen prior to my update to 1.51. I guess I was using 1.40.
I’ve had some difficulties attaching image files before, but just now I went to the Test forum and practiced attaching them.
If that doesn’t work correctly, here is the link that Google Photos gives for this image:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/gYyyCcYKL7XmDcCo7
The icons for TrackIR 5 and Voice Attack are in the lower-right portion of the AL window.
I figured I must have done something wrong when I updated to 1.51, in order to make them go away.
Here’s another attempt to attach the image. All image references in this post are to the same image.

Ah, now I get it.
I had skipped a release of the Alternative Launcher. It turns out there was a 1.50 in between 1.40 and 1.51.
The changelog for 1.50 includes this line:
“- Removed several third parties launchers.”
Maybe there were problems with those launchers or something.
At any rate, it’s another lesson in “RTFM”. I’m coming to realize just how intense of a level of “due diligence” is required, down to every line in every changelog, when using BMS.
(Edit: Or any additional software, like the Alternative Launcher.)
No worries, if that’s how it is, that’s how it is. Just gotta do my due diligence better.

This worked brilliantly for me. Thank you so much!

Hello,
i am quite new to BMS and have a question regards keybinding. I use the alternativ launcher and must say it is a huge improvement. Thanks for making it possible.
My question now. I only have an old Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 Joystick with 8 Buttons, a Coolie Hat and a Slider. Normaly it is enough. In DCS i could Map TMS, DMS and CMS to the coolie hat with CTRL + Hat, Shift + Hat and ALT + Hat. I don’t want to spend money in a HOTAS if I am not really sure I will stick to it. I did this too often…Is it possible (beside the pinkey switch DX) to use Key with Joystick? That would be really cool.
Thanks!

Now that BMS supports exponential curves for axes, will this option be appearing in Alternative Launcher?

Found a solution with vJoy and Joystick Gremlin. For anybody having the same problem.

Thank you very much! A very handy and useful tool. Setup the HOTAS is now realy easy. Keep on your awesome work!
Best regards

This looks good. I am a bit of a knucklehead with mods etc. Is there still a 4.33 version that I could practice on? Sorry if this is addressed elsewhere. Thanks

A friend of mine has the same sticks. X56 logitech. What files do I need to give him to have my same configuration?
-
Many thanks for this brilliant software!
Two questions:
1. How to enable joysick force feedback (FFB) in BMS 4.34 U4?
2. How to use alternative launcher for several different BMS installs? At the moment my 4.33U1 alternative launcher located in 4.33U1 folder starts the 4.34U4 version somehow. -
Do not enable Force feedbck in 4.34 or you might encounter CTD.
