Learning curve for BMS campaign too steep? Try starting with the Mig Alley campaign

Thanks! I will try patches.
I just made image files of original disks long ago, so I did not do any checking on the internet. Nice to see even this good old sim kept going! -
What’s real nice about 32 it has an old aircraft theater no F-16s no awaks , but you can fly the F-105D , the F-4s , a Crusader and a A7 sam sites are moderate.

Darnit haven’t heard about this since I was a kid, sad to find it doesnt run on windows 10

I had Mig Alley long ago, so long that I can’t remember why I never got into it.
Digging around I still have Jane’s F/A-18, LOMAC, and some version of IL-2 (1946?). Am I correct to assume that none of those will run on Win10?
I kinda miss IL-2 and WWII planes. Not 4:3 though. I don’t have the rig to run DCS.

I feel your pain, this crap box I’m on now can run BMS 4.32 and that’s it.

IL-2 “forgotten battles” and “Pacific fighters” run fine on win10

Necroing this thread:
Where do I find the source code for the sim, and what is the license for the code?

I still remember being chased by a Mig-15 and seeing those orange golf balls flying by my canopy! I wish DCS would make a Korea Map with dynamic campaign… that and BMS having the new MS graphics. :uham:

The source code for Mig Alley is on github.

Cool.

…Any pointers on which is the proper jumble of text to look at (aside from what is most recent)? Not that I have any real idea of what I’d be doing, but I’ve been having a 1950’s fighter bend recently.

My favorite book on the subject of learning a large base of unfamiliar legacy code, for which any kind of technical support is unavailable, is “Code Reading” by Diomidis Spinellis. Learning a big code base is rarely taught at university, but is a common task in real-world software engineering.
