SEAD Escort
-
Hey everyone, so I fragged a package to hit Wonsan airbase and had 2 SEAD escort flights 2 Escort flights and then the OCA Strike. The Escorts both were 2 4-ships and the SEAD was 2 4-ships as well. Once 60 miles from the target, they tucked and ran and the fighter escorts were engaged with fighters. The SEAD flights left the package and went back to base after they turned back in and we were 30 miles from the target. Is there a shot timing they use to protect the other flights from enemy ADA??
Or did I do something wrong? I even fragged a fighter sweep and a SEAD Escort for them and no radars were destroyed by the time we got to the target and the sweep package flew 4 minutes ahead of the OCA package for Wonsan. I lost alot of airframes because of this and I got shot down twice because of this, lost my excellent rating down to average so I’m puzzled as to what gives. Any suggestions?? :(:(:(

First thing that comes to mind is Fuel.
Did they have enough for the Mission?
You have a Save game to look at? -
Maybe the SEADs were low on fuel after they ran from the fighters. Or they were not bound to the OCA but the Sweep and left after the Sweep passed their last steerpoint? Or they aborted the mission due to the extremely high threat level at Wonsan, especially enemy fighters. There may be many causes.

We all had 600 Gallon tanks for the mission. I guess they got spooked by the fighters but I figure I’ll use ECM aircraft to suppress the SAM threats while doing OCA Strike missions, at least with alot of SAM’s around the target area. I added some with Mission Commander. :D:D:D:D I don’t know why I didn’t think of that before.
