Help extracting Mfds
-
Hello all
Looking for some help extracting MFD’s to a laptop on a network.
Not super tech savvy just need a little guidance.
-
Hello brddog,
there are quite a few options and ways to accomplish this available. Which tool will you be using?
All the best,
Uwe

Rtt extractor was what I was thinking but I don’t know how to use it
-
I haven’t used rtt myself, but these should help you

Either RTT or MFDE work for extracting over network

You can also try YAME64 for a network based setup.

I use YAME64 to extract MFD’s to a secondary touchscreen monitor attached to my Laptop, wired to the main PC over LAN - very easy to setup, YAME64 installs on both, one being started as the “server” and the laptop starting as a client of that. Even added a bunch of other gauges. I don’t think I needed to open a manual at any stage, program makes it pretty clear what/how to do it.
Best wishes and good luck!

So far I’ve tried rtt
I get the boxes on the laptop but no data when entering the 3D world. IP address is correct on the server and the client. I did try launching the server and got an error message, but from what I’ve read you don’t even need to launch the server any more. Is this true?
I am interested in Yame but I’ve read it isn’t completely compatible with 4.34Any help would be appreciated.

Use MFDE it’s most user friendly to setup. Works with 4.34 our of the box no fiddling with installing 4.33 and registry hacks like Yame64 needs and runs networked

YAME doesn’t need registry hack. In fact, more people say it gives issues when doing it, rather then not doing it.

I couldn’t get Yame to work without.
Still I stand with my statement that currently the best solution is MFDE. Less footprint than Yame and easier to setupGesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk

I’m gonna chip in for YAME. MFDE has a much larger effect on fps on my system than YAME, and also YAME does a lot of things on the side like extracting gauges, having a graphical editor to adapt your layout and so on.

Uwe

Do the ports need to be forwarded for it to work?
And
Does it have to be a wired network or can it be done wireless? -

MFDE does extracting gauges as well. And on my System Yame takes up to 5x memory as MFDE and 30% more FPS hit. So let the the OP see whats best for him

I have used MFDE for years now onto my second screen not network, but I am finding that with BMS 4.34 and the new updated theatres the MFD’s are not working. All the other gauges are working properly.
Using version 0.6.3 the newer one, the package was updated about a week after initial release.Plus the old trick of alt tabbing out restarting MFDE doesn’t work either.

0.6.3 works on all theaters for me. Only difference might be that I don’t use the installer package but build MFDE from source code directly on my machine with VS2019

I just did some very non-scientific testing with the MFDE binary that oakdesign kindly provided.
BMS 4.43U4, EMF 1.0.4, Instant action -> Moving mud with the crosshair centered on Crete. Here are the fps results:
-------TGP off---------TGP on MFDE ------104-----------75 YAME2 beta--98-----------77
So it looks like YAME2 does slightly better when the TGP is active, while having a higher impact to begin with (I’m not seeing the 30% fps reduction that oakdesign mentioned though).
To be fair I used the MFDE default config (only 2 mfds being extracted) while my YAME setup extracts a ton of other gauges and displays.
the upside is though that this MFDE version appears to work fine with EMF while other users have reported problems when using MFDE in this theater… nice work oakdesign!
All the best,
uwe

hoover will you be able to do the same test with Helios 1.6?
This is to make the comparison.
Thanks in advance.
